Chris, so you, as the Mad Scientist video expert (which I concede that you indeed are), prefer Sony OLED vs LG OLED, that Sony gives the best most accurate picture? How about the new Samsung OLEDs? And I understand Sony is discontinuing OLED and going to higher brightness mini-LED I think this next year - how might this affect your opinion? I'm asking for any of us with Appletvxs in particular who are interested in getting the OLED with the Mad Scientist best picture!
That article was from 2014 and dealt with the lack of 4K OLED panels that LG Display resolved. Sony will no doubt further refine their processing. They now secure the panels for their top displays from Samsung Not LG Display.
I ordered a VanityPro for my Appletv X, to connect to my DAC using SPDIF coax. Hopefully will receive it in a few weeks, so I will test and report here.VanityPRO | Audiopraise

Chris, are you familiar with this product. Do you think connecting the Appletvx HDMI out through this HDMI extractor could in some systems even further improve the audio sonics?
Steve, Chris, I recently added a MadVR Envy Extreme to my system. Giga Foil Copper to Fiber to Copper Ethernet converter >Apple TVx>Theta Digital CB V>MadVR Envy Extreme> JVC NX9>Panamorph DCR>Stewart Luxus Deluxe Studiotech 1.3 G4, 2.35:1, 140".So Chris, a sidebar, since you mention Lumagen (which I will be using the 5348 in my theater). Have you played with MadVR. Any impressions incl vs Lumagen?
I know I ask this routinely, but I'm somewhat paranoid on the topic.
Has anybody run into problems with the latest ATV software drop? I know there's another version on the horizon...
Thanks!
The ATV has issues at times. How to solve? Go into the menu and restart. Also, once a month or so, turn off the power supply for a minute, then back on to start back up - clears "crud" out of the random access memory. I find doing this solves any issues I have. And these issues aren't peculiar to the "X" model - they are simply due to the ATV being a computer and having computer issues at times.

Before the Envy I found SDR to be far superior to HDR with the Apple TVx. HDR looked horrible, washed out and milky with the JVC tone map settings.
When I got the Envy, we set it up to do the tone mapping when it saw an HDR flag, and I must say it is spectacular. We now let the Envy decide when to output HDR to the NX9. All the NX9 tone mapping is turned off. See any of the new Star Treks - Picard, Discovery, or Strange New Worlds. Or try Bosch, Maverick, or any new HDR movie. Just great. Highly recommended.

I am currently using a cheap hdmi audio extractor box with toslink output into DAC.
With the AppletvX, the Vanitypro did improve the sound. I am using the AES digital output. Regarding the video it does pass HDR10 and 4:2:2.And what's your verdict on the VanityPro?
With the AppletvX, the Vanitypro did improve the sound. I am using the AES digital output. Regarding the video it does pass HDR10 and 4:2:2.
However, Kaleidescape is much better given the uncompressed audio and less compressed video.
