ASR Audio from Germany is now available at Sunny Components Inc

I remember the shock of listening to ASR with YG speakers in Munich around 2010 or 2012. The impact was likely amplified because I heard the ASR setup right after the full MBL system. After experiencing excellent sound in the MBL room, listening to the ASR + YG setup felt like trying to eat plastic fruit made for display. It was a poor choice of room for ASR, being directly across from the MBL room.

I didn’t judge ASR’s sound based on its design. At first, I wasn’t even aware that ASR had a separate power supply. After listening to it, I found it lean, slow, and uninvolving—and this impression has remained consistent across various ASR amps I listened that paired with different speakers over the years. For me it has always sounded as I described. Using discrete op-amps slightly improves the sound. The technical details I mentioned are simply an explanation of why it sounds that way.
well, that explains everything. that vintage of YG plus the ASR may not have been copacetic. I heard the full MBL rig at Axpona in Atlanta many moons ago, and I thought it sounded airy and dimension while also being thin and dry sounding lacking pulp so to each his own….

I agree and I don't think MBL rooms sound best at their full potential at the shows for the last couple of years. But they were sounding great back then, 10-15 years ago. Maybe it's because of quitting the use of CD transports or maybe setting and tuning, I don't know.

Mine is a 2024 so couldn't agree more
I am just learning more every day. We have to keep digging. I removed my CH Precision DAC and installed a Hifi Rose DAC on the Emitter 1 for an audition, it seemed a bit lean, Re-set the speakers a bit towards the wall, and I have that punch that I was missing. For under 5K this might be the right product for him. Always reset your system. ALWAYS 6 months to research and 30 minutes to arrive at conclusions is a fool's game.
My shop represented ASR for several years and I believe I was the only dealer in the US at that time. There was no US distributor and I was working with an importer in Canada. Sadly, there was little interest in the line so I reluctantly had to give them up and move on. However, I can certainly vouch for ASR's sonic excellence. I hope you do well with them as they are certainly deserving of a wider audience.
Thank You, Jim. We now have two dealers. Liquid Hifi and Sunny Components Inc. Looking for a handful more.

I had a great time with my Emitter II exclusive using tubed CDs/DACs in balanced mode - the Audio Research CD8 and the Metronome C2A.

That sounds like a great system. Please post a picture if you have one.

Gentlemen, hello from a newbie! I just joined the forum and this is my first post. Since August, 2024 I have had an ASR Emitter Exclusive in my system. It is a 2022 build which I purchased used, and without having heard any ASR product before. I was confident that the design approach to this amplifier was sound, and while cumbersome, would bring great benefits to my system. I was correct. I am a former musician, radio station disc jockey, frequent live music attendee, and an avid audiophile since my freshman year of college in 1976. I also have rather keen hearing. Music is most important to my life experience. I have owned and heard some of the most exalted audio brands. MY experience with the ASR Emitter I Exclusive was stated to Mr. Fischer as follows:

"I installed the Emitter 1 Exclusive in my system this past Friday and the results are stunning. The Emitter 1 Exclusive has transformed my system!

First, with my other amps I had a low-level buzz coming through my speakers which I could not hear from my listening position, but could hear with my ear close to the woofer and tweeter. Therefore I wondered what "noise" might have been added to my music listening. With the Emitter 1 Exclusive that buzz no longer exists. When I played music I was blown away by how dynamic the music was reproduced and the great detail I was hearing, particularly with percussive instruments. I could hear more of the tonal character of the instruments. And the same with hand claps. I could sense the physical contact of the hands much more now. Everything just sounded more real, more live. The transient response is incredible. Everything is quick. And with all this detail and clarity there is no hardness or glare! Voices and instruments sound natural, without edginess. The bass is full, deep, but very controlled and detailed, and the treble region is so extended; for example, cymbal strikes are lively and the sounds float in the air with crystalline clarity. I can hear the harmonics of struck notes more clearly now. Finally, the imaging is spectacular too. Musicians appear bigger in my room and I have a more 3D presentation now, with a greater sense of the space in which an instrument or voice is located. The bass is full, deep but very controlled and detailed. Bravo Mr. Schaefer!!! I am very happy!"

I forgot to mention that the Emitter I Exclusive is driving a pair of Vimberg Amea. Photos attached

Sunny, thanks. I am very pleased the ASR lineup has representation again in the U.S. I wish you the very best as you reintroduce the brand. Serious music lovers deserve to hear music played back through these amps. The sonic results will attract customers who don't have space limitations. I would be happy to share my experience with any of your potential customers, especially those unable to hear the amplifiers in person.
