I heard the origine at my dealers place. Difficult to pinpoint the origine in the context of the system as I had only heard most of those components that one time.
The sound was very natural and full bodied with great detail. Seemed to strike that perfect balance for my tastes.
For red book I think it would be very hard to beat.

I have the Origine in house , since the past two days . Off to a more than good start , let's see how she develops .

Looking for the best single box CD-SACD, DAC player with no stated price limits. My two criteria for CDPs are single box and no digital remnants regarding sound. DAC is less important but it is nice to have a USB input with stand-alone capability. My recommendation therefore is the emm Labs XDS1-V2. The designer, Ed Meitner, is the big name in the world of digital audio and the best thing I can say about his product is that you completely forget you're listening to a CD player.
