DaVa FC-A1 a field coil contender

the Saskia is really a high level belt drive tt with an idler drive. it has that silence and nuance and detail, along with the drive. so i expect it to be able to use the silky delicacy of the field coil effect to the limit.

we will see.
Getting another Emia SUT that’s made for it?

that is probably the most likely solution; i'd need a higher gain than the Etsuro Gold's.

but maybe i'll try Darius's SUT first. i might also trade/switch my 2 silver EMIA SUT's for an EMIA MC Trio in silver. that could handle both Etsuro Gold's plus the DaVa. or one of my mono's.

i could do that without adding another phono pre. it would be the most elegant way to go.

been enjoying this thread for awhile and could no longer resist. thank you for everyone's thoughts here.

well...ok....i ordered a DaVa Reference cartridge with the 'large' (ey500 tubes) tubed power supply today, and paid my 50% deposit to get in line. plan is for the Saskia, and will have plenty of time to determine the best tone arm for it there.

at some point will need to sell one of my Etsuro Gold's. two is enough.
Glad to read
You won 't regret it.
Reg dc wire I made Cardas 2 lead Litz from psu to armbase fixed AudioNote Kaisei 10.000uF cap, then enclosed DaVa dc wire to cart.
Also have both mono and stereo x40 DaVa SUTs to optimize level for TVC based system
Best

Mike, Saskia remains one of the two or three TTs only that hits me right *here*

I thought you used your "here" to poke the Zu cabinet "there"

Why did you need to do all that? And, separately, which TVC do you use?

He is DIY guru, so all is made himself. Stevens & Wellington with stepper motors, belts, Seiden switches

because I was adviced by one of Darius "associates" to try it, and it solidified the whole presentation
S&B, but also just bought a Tribute AVC I haven´t tried yet...got it yesterday

totally agree with that
same as I feel about the Melco too
one can never have to much harmonics and the Reference is close to the cantileverless Rowland Complement both in lowend and dynamics too

Mike, I have the silver MC Trio and in addition to producing great sounds, it’s so convenient to use.

Could you present more details concerning connection of the additional capacitor ? How it works and what kind of changes did you observe? Thank you in advance.

I just used a heavier gauge twin cardas copper litz wire from tube rectified psu to near tonearmbase...there I hooked it up to an Audio Note Kaisei 10.000µF capacitor as last filtering stage as close to cart as possible
then I hooked up the enclosed thin silver dc wire from Kaisei and along the arm tube to the dc terminals on the cart
result more body and slam
Audiophile Bill did too and experienced the same(actually he was first)

OK, so the stock PSU is somewhat deficient or there is cable inductance that you're eliminating by getting closer to the cart. Why doesn't the guy (Darius?) offer the upgrade as a kit to his customer, I wonder...

Oh, I didn't know Tribute did AVCs as I thought they were TVCs. I have a Slagle AVC that I DIY'd into a chassis. Love it.

see from my #193
I guess because it´s stuff you discover underway, or maybe even someone tipped about it....
the "kit " is readily bought from hificollective.co.uk and this level of DIY should be within ones reach
I never take for granted that any product is ever finished or in its final stage

The $100 base SS PSU is fine but it is worthwhile to get his tube PSU. Not life altering differences but it is noticeably better.
