We don't "really" need many things in this hobby. I built the EY500 damper diode supply with multistage choke and filter section if only to experiment and explore. Modeled it on PSud2 with excellent results and so it stays. Battery, SS all have different properties due to the interaction with the field coil. I think it weighs about 10Kg with all the iron and chokes-- necessary --no--- indulgent yes.
Besides it looks cool on the rack. This one will have to wait now for the new DaVa Soul yet to come.
This is Nick's power supply in operation at my house, beautiful and clean-lined Mine should be identical to this but with a 220 volt input. Thanks to Nick who provided the design.

It is my understanding that the tube supply from Darius is in the $5000 range..... I got that price second hand so not confirmed
I did contact Darius last week who provided cartridge prices.. if ordered now, a 30% deposit is required with an estimated delivery of late April . All include standard solid state supply

How was the fr64 after Rick updated it? I’ve an original one that would likely benefit from a good go-over. My DaVa Soul will be going on something else (or else it would be a great opportunity to have the 64 turned into a 66 with 6 wires)

Really transformational. I thought the arms were in good shape - however, I was mistaken. I think the bearing exchange really helped with imaging and focus of the arm. The clips to plugs silver wire could not hurt. He showed me the spin on the new vs. old bearings and how the old bearing would get bogged down.
It was worth the effort IMO. He is very meticulous and very knowledgeable about these arms.

Thank you.. I have seen his site with all the work he does. Yes mine, seems in good shape as well but based on your experience it could be a better still!

when I sit and listen to The Soul in Harmony through DIY RedRose Silver Litz armcable to DaVa cu/ag SUT and and vintage late 70s AN silver Litz ic, I´m tempted to buy another Harmony arm......it really kills the IT407 both in control, resolution, calm and above it tracks anything!...worktitle for arm was Supertracker after all....
"Rick" as we call him in our group - and I have been to his home and office many times while he was in Toronto as he worked on these and for get togethers - I did the whole package on the FR66 and kept the din on the FR64 but did the bearings and wire to the DIN on that one.
Will be able to report about this in a few weeks but first listenings indicate this could be the case. In the meantime I can confirm DaVa Reference fits perfectly to Kuzma Safir 9. Beautiful combo!
Yesterday I removed the light weight standard head shell screws and mounted the much heavier Soundsmith ones in order to increase the effective mass on the all ready modified Reed 2B. Had to cut the length quite some since my mono can’t take longer screws than 4 mm.
