Discharging static!

I'm thinking it's the carpet for one, but also it's very dry in here. That should not be so much as an issue as the weather warms, since it's pretty humid here in summer. I will bring in a music-sheet stand and see if I can discharge from there.

Happens all the time at RMAF.

Generally caused by "dry air" and carpet.

Aluminum cap with a long wire attached to a grounding post. It also keeps out the bad thoughts and the alien ESP brainwashing messages. Brain shielding is underrated.

"put a 1Megohm resistor in that signal path"
Let's make that:
"put a 1Megohm resistor in that discharge path"

I have lost track of the vendors that sell many discharge items.
At the old radio station in the winter, I would spray a chemical on the carpets but it never worked all that well.

Can I remove my Birkenstocks...I need to wear them...

If this is still an issue for you, let me suggest the following.
You might want to try the ESD-Version Birkenstocks. These will vastly diminish the charge you pick up on your way from the sofa to your rack, even if you've not got an antistatic floor.
I happen to know from experience, since I took the old ESD-Birkenstocks home from work as they got replaced with new ones.
Happy discharging,
Marin
