Eye Candy

Hi DEv, I am using the Sutherland since four years, also the Kuzma strobe and the Allnic. These are fine instruments to check the right speed. If you have one cart on one arm and you do not change your settings you don't need a precision controller like the SDS being able to adjust perfectly all parameters. There are many ways to Rome, maybe you test it one day if you like or you stay with your excellent MS system in the present status.

FYI, I tried the DIGIstrobo and found it very difficult to use. It was extremely sensitive to the angle at which it was held, and the distance from the platter. I could not get 2 identical readings. . .I returned it immediately.

Never had that issue. When I reviewed it, I made a succession of measurements to see if the reading was variable and every reading was identical.

Did you put the strip on the side of the platter? With my table, I actually put it on top of the ring clamp; maybe that has something to do with it. Neither of my friends who bought the DS ever reported having that issue--unless the battery was near the end of its lifespan. I also don't understand how angle could play a role because it's main use is as a tachyometer and you can never get the same angle on the engine block.

I was using the small disc that comes with the unit, not the tape. Not sure what the issue was, just that it didn't work well for me after several attempts.

I figured as much. . .long story about my username, but not very exciting.

-----I always luv to learn on the origins of people's username. :b
After all, they picked them up them ownselves, and it counts even more than Mom & Dad's own choosing of our real names.
...If you know exactly what I mean.

"Slower Faster" on a high-end table??

Northstar you are right, this is a good one! Just imagine you would add to the Air Tight a second motor on the right side to eliminate vectors - Great deal!

Or you can do away with a belt drive altogether! :)
