Golden Gate DAC arrives.

Will be a long wait. My favorite systems still happen to be the ones played around 1926 - 1930

Good grief, 4 minutes replay a day seems awfully restricting, what would you run during the remainder of the evening!

Merging gear is mainly used for recording classical music these days. It's designed to sound exactly like the source from the mic feeds. So unless your looking for coloration, it's a very good choice.

+1

Hi Bruce,

If you get a chance, could you record a track with the Horus connected to the analog outs of the GG, then compare with the DAC in the Horus using that copy, to the original copy played back through the GG?

Then do some blind A/B testing with friends and see if they can tell which is which. The results of this will be very interesting.

As I could not readily indicate one particular configuration via the on line options menu I wonder whether anyone might advise me as to the relative RRP of an Balanced GG, non VC, DSD *only* as apposed to the same option sporting PCM as well?

I couldnt see it either, but it seems the Bal. DSD-only is Euro 17K and I expect the PCM addition is about 500 to 800euros more?

No idea why when people can spend that much for a GG would they choose to save on PCM which will, in reality blow out the other best PCMs. And this new PCM design Lukasz is putting in can only be better.

+1.. I'm enjoying PCM just as much as DSD now...

Do you know when it is foreseen to be available in the market?

At what price?

Don't think price is known yet. He tried a couple of prototypes and is working on Audiocrack's dac. He will then soon start pricing it, but I doubt it will be much

If someone wants to save money, get the big 7 instead of GG. Don't save on the PCM. B7 is sufficient to beat out the competition. It's not going to happen that you say I like dcs/msb/etc better than B7 but like GG more than them. Either you like both better than those (which have been the documented cases so far) else you don't. You will like the GG only better than the big 7

Hi all,

I will have my golden gate back tomorrow fitted with the new r2r PCM engine - anyone else had this done and got impressions yet?

Cheers

New pcm much, much better! Although only first impressions late this afternoon and evening it is in my view no contest. I really did not like the previous pcm application but this one is really good!
