The HIGH END international audio show will change to a new venue in 2026. This move from Munich to Vienna signals a groundbreaking step and was announced by the HIGH END SOCIETY at today's annual general meeting of the Association for High Quality Audio and Video Reproduction.

I am excited by this news. I much prefer Vienna to Munich as a city, and having experienced the Austria Center with its 19 halls • 180 meeting rooms • 5 levels • 26,000m² event space for 22,800 people, it should be more than capable of physically hosting the show.

Vienna has so much more to offer with its renowned Symphony Orchestra, Opera and its cuisine, both savoury and sweet. The pastries are to die for over and over again.

Great news indeed. I went to Munich this year and said I would not return. But Vienna is a different story. I was in Vienna right before Munich and I would go back again just to watch the street lights change.

see post #969

Fabulous city. Going to Musikverein again would be icing on the cake.

Munich is the world show, and I enjoy the city. But a change to Vienna will be refreshing. Given the state of affairs with shows in the US, perhaps our domestic shows should consider venue and schedule changes.

Perhaps this will present an opportunity for smaller, independent manufacturers shut out of Munich to show their wares. Younger firms offer a different perspective from the big, established players, which is a boon for hobbyists and necessary for our industry's vibrancy and success.

As Billy Joel said, "Vienna waits for you"!

There are way to many US shows. The ROI and effectiveness of the shows has greatly diminished. In my opinion there should be two US shows.
They should make these destinations and be partial B2B and then consumer so that the cost would not be so prohibitive for exhibitors. It is the exhibitors that people come to see rather than the show making a lot of money IMO. As an exhibitor I would like to participate with the show organizers to get the best result with the most cost effective method. Truthfully paying 25 to 50 k for a show in a mediocre room in an OK hotel isnt a value. The high end show is an excellent show except its not in the US. We need one like that and one is enough..HINT HINT
RMAF had a great hotel unfortunately it was in Colorado in the middle of nowhere. Make it a resort so that people can get some value and relax as well then IMO it would be a great success for all. Things like golf , swimming, boating etc. make it a destination for a wider variety of clients.
But what do I know. This may be my last year spending the cash to do the SOS.

Cmon Elliot!

Denver, with a 2020 metro area population of 2.99 million people is hardly in the “middle of nowhere” with nothing to do. Additionally, it’s growing at a faster rate than SoCal or the Northeast.

RMAF at the new hotel which was beautiful was near the airport and in the middle of no where. It drew lousy attendance . I did not say Denver was the middle of nowhere but the Gaylord was in gods country

Elliot, count me in on this! Seriously.

Denver is in the dead middle of the country and a perfect venue for a show that beats Axpona's impossibly cramped room, lack of availability for bigger ones, and high prices. Not to mention competing for press and consumer attention with 500 + and 220 rooms over three days.

I love the idea of someone organizing a Munich-like event in Denver with two days of trade-only and a weekend of consumer demos, exciting seminars, etc. The timing could oppose Axpona by six months in the late fall, so the weather is excellent, and there is no overlap.

For your information, the CEDIA event in downtown Denver dwarfs our little corner of the AV world yearly. There is no shortage of good hotels, restaurants, music venues, etc., and it is half an hour from DIA airport.

Any takers:)

Key word here is "downtown." IMHO, shows that are at remote hotels or meeting facilities less appealing for who travel from afar.

Agree, Kal! I hope you are well.
