IMPORTANT WARNING ALERT! Audigon, my membership name has been hacked, check yours

Here is something else that pisses me off about Audiogon. I finally sold my ARC VS115 tonight. As soon as I accepted the buyer’s offer, a box popped up on the screen telling me my account was “overdue.” What nonsense.

At least with Paypal you have a good chance you will get your money back if you can prove your case. But, even when it's a slam dunk case, Paypal still puts you through the wringer and it takes awhile before you get your money back.

PayPal sucks too, scammers know what they are doing. I recently purchased a Finite Elemente Pagode HD12 Master Reference 3 Levels Double Wide Walnut from Sunny Components Inc. This guy is a scammer, I wanted to pay using PayPal due to having accumulated money from sales. This guy would only take enough to barely cover the shipping cost and insisted I wire the rest. Reading his feedback seemed to be alright along with talking with him on the phone but still didn't really sit well with me.

So I receive the item, boy was I shocked. The condition advertised was 8/10 but what I received was more like a 3 to 4 max condition. There was no shipping issues, the condition was of such prior to shipping and this seller new this. He has been constaintly trying to put blame on shipping.

PayPal will reinburse me my out of pocket money but I must first ship the item back at my cost and must receive a signed document from the seller of reciept. What a friggen joke that is, I'm out close to $6K plus the PayPal amount and they think I'm going to ship putting me out of more pocket, what a joke. Guy like this deserve what ever comes.

P.S. Never mind Finite is caput.

Mr. Accoustat's account was hacked today. Someone was selling a pair of Wilson MAXXS for $7500. Account is now marked suspended so can't link. This is becoming an epidemic and Audiogon really needs to put a stop to this stuff!

It's not the first time this members name has been hacked as per my original posting how many days ago now. You should see all the nonsence responces I'm getting from Audiogon Shannon basically putting the blame on me sugesting this and that. My reply back "ARE YOU FOR REAL!" It's your site that is messed up and since the new owners took it on, revamped it it's been a F ... NITEMARE. STOP having us sign in with our membership name along with password to even ask a question, this is how these hackers are getting their info.

Put up warnings to others members so not to get ripped off, the scam ad with my membership name on it, Wilson Sasha speakers well an individual wired money and not to me. Was scamed out of thousands of dollars, do you see Audigon putting up any warnings out? no

They should be held accountable for this.

Be very carefull, this is another scam. Scammers are making offers and getting your info, this whole page you got could be a scam "ghost page" and you will be out of money. I got the same but had nothing for sale, I did click on it but when it asked for my membership name and password I deleted it. I then directly contacted Agon and they confirmed this was not from them and is a scam. Do you see them putting out warnings letting any other members know about this? NO I wonder how many have paid? They should be held accountable for this.

What a complete shame. I agree, DEV but E-Bay did the same thing when Vladimir hacked into them. Anything to sweep bad publicity under the rug or make it disappear altogether and maintain operations. Damned the members. I really feel for the folks that have no clue as to what's going on.

Sorry about your bad luck Dev. I said previously in another post that you will get your money back with Paypal, but it won't be painless or quick. They make it rough.

Here's Audigon grading scale that any seller has to check off

Audiogon's Grading Scale
Last Updated: Jul 10, 2012 02:11PM EDT
Grading Scale
This is a standard scale by which to describe the physical condition of an item.
By using the Audiogon Grading Scale (AGS) you will accurately convey to buyers the physical condition of your item. Buyers do not like surprises; thus if every seller uses the same criteria to describe their items, the opportunity for receiving higher offers will increase dramatically. Use the official Audiogon grading scale for consistent grading compared to other users.

8/10: Very Good - Perfect front face, 1 minor flaw on top or side is acceptable.
This item has seen some use, but still appears perfect from the front. A perfect front face plate includes the front top edge. Be sure and check this edge since it is very easy to nick. On speakers, all four front edges should be inspected.
• Electronics may have 1 or 2 minor scratches (max 1/2" long, very thin) on the top plate or the sides of electronics, but again, the front must be perfect. There should be no signs of rack mounting. Chrome should have no pitting, but may have some discoloration in spots less than 1/4" diameter. Silk-screening has no separations, and the lettering shows no wear.
• Speakers may have minor discoloration along edges, but no scratches that show through the veneer, except for the bottom, which may show signs of stand mounting or floor scraping.
• Turntables covers may be slightly hazy from record sleeves being laid on them, but should not have any highly visible scratches anywhere. The headshell may have some scratches from cartridge mounting.

Here is a pic of what I received, you can tell this is damage that has occured over time and not way a 8/10 Rating as above nor could such happen in shipping. I have other shots where it shows the post which the points sit in are damaged from excessive weight.

This list for close to $15K

Dev- I'm sorry you got burned by an unscrupulous seller. It seems to me that if a seller accrues more than a couple misleading condition rating complaints, they should suffer some sort of ban, in addition to having to make recompense. The fact that you have to pay shipping is crazy, that thing must weigh a ton. (I bought one new, years ago, not the 'double wide,' but the one big enough for my turntable and didn't keep it).
Re the 'account overdue' alert for MEP, I think that's just the 'new' Audiogon's way of saying pay us the commission now that you've sold the goods. I thought, in the old days, they didn't try to collect until you listed the next item and then had to pay the balance of any prior commission owed.
From the sounds of this thread, there are several different types of scams going on. And I agree, the 'new' Audiogon is not responsive, has far more problems softwarewise, and the number of 'hacks' and scams seems to be epidemic, as Myles said.
Too bad, it used to be a fun place to visit, and unfortunately remains the main game in town. But no one seems to be able to develop a real alternative, given the cost and scability issues.

Check out the one year graph and then hit "all". It only goes back to 2009 but since the new AG hit in January, they currently have 1/2 the members visiting each day. Situations just like this aren't helping them. Still, the website is valued at close to 1M. I'd be interested in seeing what this figure is one year from now, if they can survive.

DEV, that's really sad. Best of luck to you for a speedy resolution. That photo really speaks volumes.

Do any of you know this guy

We are a dealer for Finite Elemente.
We are Sunny Components Inc.

Yes I do. Visited his store back in April and he was a very gracious host. Can't believe he's a scammer, carries lot's of top lines and is one of Wilson's top dealers. He also does a bit with the LAOC audio club.

Myles that's how he got me.

How can one post an add saying the condition is 8/10 along with telling me over the phone the same but then send me what you see?

I would say the pictures speak volumns for what the actual condition was prior to sending, no way could this happen in shipping. There was no damage to the shipping carton. Then denying such suggesting it's a shipping issue so to wash his hands, that 's what I would call a scammer!

Here's another pic

Here is a pic of one of the main shelf supports which is damaged, this isn't a 8/10 condition.

Both sides are like this.

Just send it back to the seller with a tracking # for PP to see and they will send you back your $$$. No worry!

Thanks but not that easy, if you read above the seller would only allow me to pay x amount of dollarsusing PP which doesn't even cover shipping cost back and wired OVER $5k so I would still be out that money plus my actual cost for shipping back which would put me in the red just alone for that. The owner of Sunny Components Inc. was adimit that this damage happened during shipping and would not take reciept if I shipped it back so I would be then screwed for that. He knew exactly what he was doing "SCAMMING" but trust me pay back time is a BITCH and will be ten fold, he thinks he got away with it because we are so far away from each other but he's wrong.

The reason why I bring this up is that this was a deal done threw Audigon, Audiogon's responce post a Blah! Blah!

Bought fake Audio Note cables off the 'Gon and the 'Gon had/has no power to help members that get scammed. They are powerless. For that much $$$ I would send Wedoe out to brake his collarbone. Go pay him a visit!

In today's world scammers need to re-think their ways as there are a lot of stressed out people that are ready to snap and lose it. I had a dac builder called Mojo Audio take me for $500.00 thinking we would never meet up. Well he has a room @ RMAF and I am paying him a visit. No physical stuff but he is going to get an ear full. Said I opened up his demo dac and messed with the wiring. Brain dead.

---Karma is a very nice thing to the ones who are patient. :b

I know so many true stories ..., and still living so many more in the now ....

_____________

Anyway, Audiogon now have high fees (not like Videogon).
