They are in the US of A , they will not take this seriously until you have an Attorney contact them , do not take this sitting down , have an attorney contact them , you can prove negligence on their part , best to get with others who have also been scammed , AG has the information you seek and I'm sure they collected fees from these transactions ....
A Wayne: getting the information from Audigon would likely require a subpoena. This may require the commencement of a civil action in the US. That involves the victim hiring a US lawyer as well. Given the nature of the problem, in my experience, this may be better suited for law enforcement authorities. Of course, it is not a bad idea for Stianmhell to have his local attorney coordinate this.
this year (mostly thru June), to help pay for my new speakers and new amps, i've sold 10+ items on Audiogon for around $50k.
it's been a pain with the restrictions, although it likely helps that my moniker is my real name and i've been around for awhile in terms of buyer comfort. i have not personally had any problems.
i agree. but as a seller who is easy to identify and verify buyers can be comfortable. and everyone can be easy to I.D. if they use their name, are open about where they live, etc.
that openness has it's own price of course on the other end of things. but monikers and email addresses allow fraud, where they also protect privacy.
choose your poison.
because i'm known, buyers sometimes email me to verify a seller that claims to know me. i'm sure that has happened to you too.
Thanks, I will check it out. I am located in Norway.
I have already contacted the Norwegian police, so I hope they can contact the german police and check out all the bank accounts the hacker used.
Good, and keep at it. ...But don't hope for anything, don't count on anyone; you'll have to make sure yourself.
...Fight till you assemble a real team of trusted people and knowledgeable in their radical actions.
Hi, My name is Stian M. Helland.
In the beginning of this thread Dev mentioned that I contacted him about a bank transfere. That I managed to do and I transfered 10000$ to this German hacker for a pair of Wilson Sasha speakers.
The thing is that this had happened before with the same speakers (exact same ad but with different user name), this time the speakers went for 12000$. The guy buying the speakers had contacted Audiogon and they just said they were sorry.
So all in all this hacker has at least cashed in 22000$ in a couple of monts. I have all the bank account information but it seems like I might as well just forget the money.
It seems quite stange that Audiogon haven`t done **** to prevent this from happening again.
Just one week after I bought the speakers the ad was posted again. This is when I found out that it was scam.
I contacted Audiogon and they suspended Dev`s account and said it was hijacked and that they were sorry. To me this seems to be a bit easy way of solving this case.
And one week after this the ad was posted again, I then made a new account on Audiogon and started communication with the guy. This time he had a different bank account in the same bank in germany.
I then contacted Audiogon and asked them to try and find out who it was, they just suspended the acount.
I am wondering what I should do about this??
I'm so SORRY to hear you actually got taken. Audigon should be held accountable for this, when I got emails of you wanting to send a wire I contacted Audigon and told them to warn you and not to send. I actually even posted on here asking if anyone knew of you and to warn you but unfortuantely it appears all was too late.
I kept sending Audiogon messages that they need to post warnings "banners" right above the clasified ad pages but such has gone on death ears, replies back that they are working on it. What a bunch of crap, they obvious don't care.
There are so many ads that a frauduate, now they are asking for money order or certified checks. It's an absolure nitemare, the worst being that they seem to have endless members names that they have hacked.

Be very careful! A scam that they are doing is actually replying to adds, this is a way they are gaining members information. When you go to reply it ask for your member name and password and email, well guess what they now have your info.
This is a huge scam for Audigon or anyone, will be very interesting to see how this all pans out.
---The people running Audiogon should be banned for life and sent to jail with stiff times!
* I am going to ask my legal lawyer to send them a letter.
Meanwhile I recommend that people stay away from this fraudulent website;
even the people making money!
By encouraging them you encourage the crimes to spread.
The Hilton Garden was booked for Saturday because of a wedding but has a banquet room for Friday. Problem is the room is $1250 and bartender $75 plus what we decide to order for food the prices however would be waived if we have 50 people. Problem is everyone preferred Saturday and I was reluctant to sign as guarantor.
The convention hotel is booked
So unless we have 50 people for Friday we still have the Bent Fork as a smaller option
