I use only one brand of cables...with only one clear methodology in mind. I like what I hear, and of course I might like to upgrade even further is due course, but will always go for source then components then cables...as a general set of rules. Of course there are no rules, and opportunity (and crises) sometimes divert the best of intentions.
Which make and models of cables?
Time Portal - all models: HDMI/RCA/XLR/Speaker Cables/Power cables. Can be found here: https://www.upgradecompany.com/brands/timeportal
I've attached some photos from my system to show my level of commitment to this philosophy.
Here's an earlier posting from elsewhere I've made:
There are a number of effects of cables. Traditionally their impact and ensuing discussion and measurements revolve around capacitance. Esp speaker cables. In non traditional specialist environments there are another set of requirements properties and specific material and performance standards. These environments include medical and military as well as research. Just a for example, here in Saudi we have a University centered Military purpose mass radar array which is also part of a global system. Imagine if you can the shielding requirements and standards for this installation. They are supremely critical to performance of the array. Now take this example and the technology there into Hi Fi. There are many more technologies than this one example. Cables can be designed and constructed to make a difference to signal purity and delivery performance. These specialist apps rely on them.
And a timely tip from someone by the name of Norman Varney:
"Cleaning: Typically, all you need is isopropyl alcohol, Q-tips and an RCA cleaning tool (Signet). At least once a year it is worth while to clean and tighten all the electrical contacts from AC power cables to speaker contacts. Don't forget fuse contacts, tube pins/sockets and cartridge pins. Even the breakers to outlets should be checked (by an electrician) for corrosion and tightness. It usually makes an audible improvement!"
