Is this obsessive?

Hello, Al M. I personally use both DN5 and GN5. The DN5 cleans off the oxidation and oils. The GN5 enhances and protects the connections. There is an excellent read that you may be interested in, the link is provided below.

Thanks for linking us to that Tom! I remember reading it, and will do so again. At this point I think I'm going to use some "elbow grease" by unplugging/replugging/twisting/turning several times, and then lastly apply some Isopropyl alcohol. To be quite honest, I'm not sure I could ever hear a difference if I applied Deoxit or some other commercial product.
 
I use the Deoxit contact cleaner ( red liquid, not sure IF it has another name) and the Deoxit ProGold (GN5).
I also use a microfiber cloth instead of the cotton cloth that Deoxit provides...seems to work a little better.
