JackD201 - Almost Done

Now there's an idea :D

Any day now.........

Racks move in and un-crating will begin tonight. Using 4 loaner venoms while I wait for the 2 20A Shunyata Pythons (Subs) and 2 20A M-B Signatures.

Light programming on the STICK DMX system tomorrow along with hopefully the return of the furniture from the warehouse.

Great news Jack! You must be pumped!

Hi John,

I am! I'm also a bit daunted. I didn't realize that I have around 100m of cabling in this system, albeit 48m of it are from the two separate runs to the 2 pairs of monoblocks. A whole lot of racks to be aligned in height as well as leveled too.

Plan to have a re-stabilizing party for all the gear that hasn't seen any electrons in months.

The room looks greeaaaaaat!

You'll see it when you stop by before going to vietnam John ;)

100m of cabling?. That's like an industrial complex! LOL! And yes, if I can arrange to stop by on the way to Vietnam I surely will! :D

I'll ready the glow sticks :D

This is exciting news Jack and I'm very happy for you. Hopefully your room will come back better than it was before. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Hey Jack, what sort of precautions have been taken this time in the event of another great flood?

Hi Gavin,

Perforated pipes with their own collector and pump in the garden and west perimeter and all new retaining walls. In order not to change the room dimensions, we removed the plaster and built a new retaining wall using mesh and high psi shotcrete. So basically a two fold approach. Keep water from getting and collecting there and making sure whatever does stays out by collecting it through another set of pipes, collectors and pumps. We also changed the pipe's outlets so in the event that water reaches their level there will be no back flow.

One can't dis mother nature though so I hope this will be enough. ;)

This should have been called 'Jack is Back' but since Jack Bauer beat us to it, we should call it 'Buchanan Street will be rockin'!' :D Come back with a bang, Jack! :)

Hey there Jack...do you have redundant sump pumps or at least electrical backup? I am very sensitive to this because one of our houses had a basement that was built over a natural spring and the sump pit would fill about every 30 seconds during downpours. All was right until a pump failed due to motor failure or a mechanical failure (a piece of Styrofoam lodged in the float). We had two major floods that caused much heartburn. I vowed to never build a basement without gravity drains. Don't mean to alarm just wondering what steps have been taken. The thought of another one of your masterpieces being destroyed is more than troubling.

Yup :) 2 pumps and a 20kVA auto-switch backup generator that powers the pumps, the kitchen (fridge and freezer some lights) and the bedroom upstairs in the event of those long power failures that come with high wind storms.

By the way......

Jack's Baaaaaaaaaaack! Too busy listening, gotta run! Pics to follow :D

Jack,
Great to know you are again so close to listening to your system! But probably now you must go through a burn-in phase again.

Tell me about it Micro! Sounded horrid. It settled down after about 8 hours but still have a long way to go. The electronics haven't been used for about 6 months.

Jack,
Although some people disagree on the use of technical recordings to fasten burn-in, as I have little patience for burn-in I usually use the Purist Audio system enhancer CD to speed it. Albert Porter recommended it to me long ago, the only nasty thing is that the highest bass dynamics come by the end of the 70 minute CD - do not settle the volume from the beginning and move away!

I have used that System Enhancer for years and through all three versions and swear by it
