Jeff Bezos to lose status as world’s richest man as Amazon stock tumbles

Steve, no deep breath needed. I'm not mad/angry. But I can maintain my opinion that I'm skeptical of what Amazon is doing. I do most of my online shopping in this hobby, and elsewhere, on non Amazon sites, and I am nostalgic over the extinction of the high street.

That's just me. I haven't even succumbed to streaming, music or tv/movies, yet. My opinion hardly matters in the grand scheme.

Do what Keith said and buy stock in either Target, Walmart or Amazon

OMG I feel so sorry for him.

Honestly we all know half of Amazon is a sham.

Wow, lots to digest in this thread ...
I don't even know where to start.
Perhaps getting rid of all detoriating drugs and drug dealers?
That would be a good start...I think.

* Jeff Besos, Bill Gates they don't have to live where they live...around Seattle area...they could move to say...Switzerland. Or, they can invest where it counts the most...good paying jobs, housings for low paying jobs. But first all drug dealers have to go...they are the diseases polluting the human climate in all cities. ...Street gangs and cartel lords ...

Jeff Bezos I really doubt it's something he takes @ heart with $100 billions.
Who would?

If Bill Gates becomes the new King again there's an economic reason why, a trend, a current of today's financial situation and emotions. Of course the split with his wife is number one reason.
He'll be back ...

Amazon down, Microsoft up ... today. Tesla? ...Up...today too.

There is nothing sham about Amazon. They have the largest share of ecommerce AND cloud computing. When Amazon was awarded the contract for secure cloud storage for the CIA, it triggered the largest corporate lay off in history....at IBM.

They have lights on their bathrooms signalling when employees can and can't use them based on performance of an entire warehouse. How much more needs to be said? Oh wait they use MethTrac for delivery services and if not that then they use Sleezber where they pressure people into driving ways that cause accidents all over the country for pennies.

SHAM. It's wild that places like them and rideshare get to skate everything and cheat systems. It's depressing the country and spiraling us towards recession while everyone else is trying to keep us out. On top of that it costs everyone more in taxes to support all these "hacks" of the system because the systems leave people in need of public assistance among many other things.

I'm a fan of Amazon Prime. They bought Whole Foods, which turned out great. The store is more like it was when it first opened, lots of good deals and the quality of the prepared food is on the rise. I'm spending less and I get 5% back as credit on my account. The only negative I noticed is the Amazon labels don't stick to the waxed paper they use for fish, meats, etc. very well.

IDK about the whole 1-day delivery thing... 99% of the time I'd rather pay less and wait an extra day, the costs of 1-day are going to raise the price of the products to some degree.

Also, I resent their special deal on shipping, I spend big $ on shipping and payment processing, I see what Amazon ships and for how much and it just doesn't compute. For example I get a $20 product shipped to me 'free" 2-day, in many cases I couldn't even buy the shipping for $20!

Dave

its free 2nd day delivery with Amazon Prime membership which gets you free streaming of all of their movies.
Best $99. Per year I’ve ever spent. If you order on a Friday I get delivery on a Sunday

no one is forcing anyone to work at Amazon. Don't like the lighted bathroom system? Work somewhere else, it's the tightest labor market in the last 25 years.

As long as they don’t start delivering before I buy it then I am okay with their business model.

Not many people end up at Amazon because they have options. There's nothing to disagree about, what I talked about are facts. That's how the gig economy works, everyone loves being on the purchasing side but you support the cheapness through taxes; and it's illegal. This means people like DaveC (and myself) pay regular prices while everyone else subsidizes Amazon & whatever else.

I seriously invite any of you to try a gig economy job. If you haven't walked those shoes in any way, well, you're just self serving when you talk about it in a positive light. Don't get me wrong, I'm not guilt free either. I love using Uber/Lyft, but they're absolutely criminal enterprises that cost us loads in taxes because they're such shysters. Amazon on the other hand I've stopped using when possible. Why? MethTrac. I'm not paying for 2 day shipping to get something two weeks later, if I get it at all. Also I don't like getting packages for other people from MethTrac, but I have. MethTrac is an illegal enterprise just like all these other gig economy things based on driving your own vehicle. The short answer is no one will challenge them in court, not even the US government.

Jeff, it's tight because my generation works multiple jobs and retirees work for fun all the time now. But the truth is it's miserable, and bad for the economy.

It pays to get a good education, a university degree, some diplomas, a PhD, a Master, some connections, be in the right places @ the right time, work hard, invest smartly, break free from the masses and low lifers, get away from drug dealers and traffickers, live with room service, closer to all amenities, order online from Amazon, use Apple products, don't download any Google store apps you're not sure of, follow the money trail ... legit and beneficial to climate change and humanity ...

:) It sounds very easy, and it is. By the time our great great great grandchildren turn 66 we'll have made a quantum leap in teletransportation and interplanetary expeditions ...
Jeff Bezos grand kids included. Invest in Amazon stocks, it's a solid investment, for the kids too.

Not having heard of MethTrac before, I thought it was a method of charting people's drug habits, from supplier to consumption Lol.

It would have been so like Amazon, a company that measures your toilet break to the microsecond, for them to intimately know about your personal use of drugs.

now that would be the ultimate. Probably requiring AI ;)

I know for a fact that they are already well along working on this....and it's not just Amazon. My youngest worked for Target during the summer. During his orientation, management told him a story about a how Target realized a young women was pregnant before she did...and changed their targeted online advertising to baby products.

Do you realise quite how creepy that sounds?

Steve, I do get it. I just can't wholeheartedly salute the direction. In this hobby I have a couple of virtual shop outlets for lps and cds from whom I buy new. And a half dozen specialist blu ray labels I buy from. I refuse so far to relent to streaming. And I actively avoid Amazon where I can. This is just me. My model makes sense for me. I would never contend it does for anyone else. For me the great late in the hour success on the high street is the survival of the specialist bookshop. Long may that continue.

In the not too distant future, you will linger over a YouTube video of a recent release. By day's end, an autonomous drone or vehicle (because the future of Uber is eliminating the driver and delivering merchandise not people) will deliver it to your Amazon locker next to your mailbox. If you don't want or like it, you put it back in the locker for return
