Never owned one, but nothing other than v sad news. The world cannot be anything other than emptier and harsher w one less specialist business and set of designers. And then the fate of the staff...

It's always sad to read such stories. My father developed a fascinating custom wooden jigsaw puzzle business. The mahogany plywood with laminated photos or directly painted images were cut by a computer controlled water jet. The cutting designs were developed on Autocad architectural drawing software. He had quite a following, but he could not find anyone to take over the business, so when he retired at 83, the business folded.

Jelco's story makes me appreciate the succession plan put into place by David Wilson for his speaker company. One wonders about many of these small, old businesses, cartridge manufacturers in particular, but also turntable and electronics companies.
