Marty, thank you so much for this post and the video. What a wonderful story. I was able to hear Joshua Bell last year in London playing in a solo recital, no doubt with the Gibson ex-Huberman Strad, accompanied by his favorite pianist, Jeremy Denk. Bell may be the best violinist in the world. He is not flashy, but has a real soul. He played a French program, including the great Franck sonata. Bell is also the music director of the Academy of St. Martin's in the Field.
Josh Bell is featured in the opening episode of "Mozart in the Jungle" on Amazon Prime TV. Fabulous TV series that should interest anyone who likes classical music. Lots of cameos by folks like Gustavo Dudamel, on whom the series is supposedly loosely based.
