Kondo vs Allnic

Folks

I am excited to announce that the H10,000 is out of the proverbial cardboard womb.

Simple set up. Off to give a listen and compare to audionet Pam g2 with Epx power supply which was a very nice set up.

This is obviously very different. Let’s just say bay got soul.

Ok - so on the front of the allnic you can tweak the roll off and turnover.

I followed the chart in the manual and put on original capital records Frank Sinatra so 11 db and 400hz and -11db

The entire record opened - I am in shock. Haven’t heard music like this ever in my room. It’s like old blue eyes is in my room.

This is used for the non-RIAA eq, and you should use it only with originals, approx. pre-1960. If you use it for later records you are essentially using it as an equalizer. But if you do get originals listen with and without the recommended roll off/turnover setting for that label, and see what you think.

There is no comparison.... Kondo wins hands down. But! If you throw in a Thomas Mayer to the mix both are dust....

So you are saying the conclusion is the same irrespective of the cart? For Dava is there SUT?

Indeed pretty much so. A question of mine now perhaps... Have anyone ever looked under the hood the allnic for eg and see what's in there? Perhaps that's the start to the answer and the end of the question

I like sonics of both. There is no doubt TM parts and engineering is of a very high quality compared to others. There is synergy too, in your case you have the TM pre and a SET, that is a bit different from a more all round purpose.

Did you make these phono compares with any another preamp in the mix?

ps: I have heard the D3a, not the Ec8020 which I bought used and sold off in the pandemic before listening and understand this will be better than the D3a.

A few reflections:

1) have you heard the allnic H0,000 in same system : room as others

2) if yes, please elaborate so as to be helpful to the community vs a random comment that is useless

You are active in an online audiophile community yet you don’t like telling people what your system is comprised of yet you are fine rattling off random, sweeping generalizations with no details ? Hmm seems rather unhelpful

Btw is your model one of his makes before the D3a or did you get one specially made to order today with the ec8020

Indeed I had the d3a before the ec8020. The d3a needed a bit of a roll to get the best out of it. The stock ser tubes I didn't really like to be honest. Best performance came out of changing them to pinches waist d3a and also blending the rectifier tubes. The ec8020 is better than the d3a in all metrics

It was one specially made. The ec8020 with the line gain was also tailored for the carts I use as well

No I see no point advertising my system. Look at my previous posts I am not your mid tier usual audiophile. I see no point describing the marketing adjectives of soundstage texture etcetc. A lot of marketing but less so the truth. My opinions can be relied on or disregarded, I don't really get worried either way. The question was asked and I answered.

You need to take off the bottom plate of an allnic perhaps and have a look before having sweeping comments on the usefulness of my comments. Again I mention as before... If you did that will be the end of the answer rather than the beginning of a question. It is clear you are looking for adjectives where the truth can be found more easily.

With allnic like fm acoustics the genius is in the circuit design, not those Chinese and Korean capacitors etcetc

Let’s try to be productive and helpful.

What was your cash cost for the Thomas Mayer fully loaded. Let’s set the baseline.
