So I made an amateur YouTube video about this gorgeous DAC. Check it out (I gave credit to this forum, btw, for introducing me to these awesome tubes.
Had to chuckle at your quote " Impotence matching I consider very important" !

If that’s a serious question, then obviously I don’t think colour has any influence on sound. I think it’s a good marketing strategy. People always like unique things that look cool. The name “blue tubes” may just carry on, and just stick to their brand.Looks great. Your tubes make me wonder to what extent would the colour of the tube impact your perception of the sound quality.
If that is a serious answer , then I would offer you a slightly different, more scientific perspective drawing your attention to environmental psychology.
An analogy would help. Would a dish on a plastic plate served by an unappealing waiter in a cheap diner taste the same or different when served on a 'golden platter' by a well-dressed, polite waiter in a Michelin 3-star restaurant? Of course, differently. This example is hyperbole, especially comparing to a teeny tiny detail such as the tube colour. It explains well, however, that even if the taste does not change, but there are adjustments to surrounding stimuli, your perception of this same taste becomes different.
Perception is a subjective, active and creative process as our responses to the surrounding are influenced by motivation, experience, knowledge and culture. The selection of the stimuli influencing the interpretation of the surrounding ( such as blue tubes) happens in your subconsciousness. You may be aware of it, but you do not control it. The way you listen to music and where you hear it from (a tube colour comes as one variable) influences how you perceive it. Certain kinds of shapes and colours are instinctively more appealing than others.
By that definition, the change to/from the blue, red, white, curvy or square tubes may go well beyond the aesthetics.
Btw., have you heard of chromesthesia - hearing in colours? An interesting concept.
I am still burning it in, it sounds good so far. No red flags for me yet. If it works well, I might sell my usaf 596Tbh: The Sophia Electric Aqua 274b wasn't my cup of tea.... I kicked it out some month ago (after burn in)...
Yes agree 100%@perfusionist. It’s not just your own mood at (late) night, but music does typically sound better then because due to less electrical grid use, your incoming electricity is cleaner. Also there’s apt to be less external environmental noise at that hour.
Actually I am thinking to downgrade this GG2 to GA+TRP. it is more compact and I can save more for better server (thinking about K50). do you think it is a good idea? How much GG2 is really better than GA+TRP?
