Nice! Is that the gg2?

I got my output tubes on usaudiomart (used) and the rectifier directly from Sophia electric

Looks great. Your tubes make me wonder to what extent would the colour of the tube impact your perception of the sound quality.
If that’s a serious question, then obviously I don’t think colour has any influence on sound. I think it’s a good marketing strategy. People always like unique things that look cool. The name “blue tubes” may just carry on, and just stick to their brand.

If that is a serious answer ;) , then I would offer you a slightly different, more scientific perspective drawing your attention to environmental psychology.

An analogy would help. Would a dish on a plastic plate served by an unappealing waiter in a cheap diner taste the same or different when served on a 'golden platter' by a well-dressed, polite waiter in a Michelin 3-star restaurant? Of course, differently. This example is hyperbole, especially comparing to a teeny tiny detail such as the tube colour. It explains well, however, that even if the taste does not change, but there are adjustments to surrounding stimuli, your perception of this same taste becomes different.

Perception is a subjective, active and creative process as our responses to the surrounding are influenced by motivation, experience, knowledge and culture. The selection of the stimuli influencing the interpretation of the surrounding ( such as blue tubes) happens in your subconsciousness. You may be aware of it, but you do not control it. The way you listen to music and where you hear it from (a tube colour comes as one variable) influences how you perceive it. Certain kinds of shapes and colours are instinctively more appealing than others.

By that definition, the change to/from the blue, red, white, round or square tubes may go well beyond the aesthetics.

Btw., have you heard of chromesthesia - hearing in colours? An interesting concept.

Certainly interesting concept. I do agree with the fact that environmental stimuli play an important role in sound perception. In fact, in my video I have mentioned that I do all my critical listening at night. I feel my music sounds better at night with lights turned off ( just having the tubes light up) than during day times, because my mind is calm and I am able to concentrate more because of "less response to external stimuli". I have not paid attention to color, as a lot of times I close my eyes. But certainly interested to keep that in mind and see if that changes my perception. Thanks for the thought.

My pleasure @perfusionist. I was not convinced when I read about it the first time during my Uni days, but I've grown to appreciate this approach. In the grand scheme of things, I doubt a tube colour change would make much of a difference, but the tiny audio-related details are what being an audiophile is all about. When making experiences, attention to detail matters. I totally agree with you, I also enjoy listening to music at night, less interference.

@perfusionist. It’s not just your own mood at (late) night, but music does typically sound better then because due to less electrical grid use, your incoming electricity is cleaner. Also there’s apt to be less external environmental noise at that hour.

Actually I am thinking to downgrade this GG2 to GA+TRP. it is more compact and I can save more for better server (thinking about K50). do you think it is a good idea? How much GG2 is really better than GA+TRP?

Is it the latest GG2? Balanced version or single ended?
