Did you buy Tesla or another brand
I wonder who sells an amp for these tubes
at a rating of 45 watts thats a high tube

I put in the Tesla EL51s, let them play for a couple hours and now I am listening.

Much nicer midrange than the 807s. Sonny’s sax on “I’m an Old Cowhand” has that real attack. With the 807s there was too much softness on this. Bass is also tight. The bass was also very nice with the 807s.

They have a good amount of body if you need it. Seemed bal to me as well. but this was on my trp. I cant imagine what these must be doing on the H dac. please let us rau seems to busy making expresso to post lol.

Or sell them to those of us who have a Horizon and like them!

Its a bonus to know tube hoarders for TRP in H case ;)

I am willing I have a few pairs to go lol. what I am starting to notice is traits of tube sounds I have used in my TRP and other audio products
I wish more would comment on tubes.
the vt99 tubes are great but to me warm of neutral
but no one comments lol.

I would comment on VT99 but I feel my comments would not be accurate. Since last week I have had VT99 in , but time I listen I have lots on my mind or I fall asleep. Music is just playing in background and I'm not really paying attention. I should just buy a boom box

I got one of those sounds great never has any issues
only issue is me just can’t be happy

Getting seriously ready ie doing my homework with dilligence

Tmr 6f8g VT99 Raytheon will arrive so choice of double triodes on hand is already “decent”…rectifiers i have xyz so only pentodes remaining to be solved but might go as per Steve advice with KR KT88.
@dminches - thanks for the TungSol!

Wow Guys, I see you did your homework pretty well

Arriving today is a matched set of French CSF 5687 which are reportedly 6900 beaters. Thats a mighty assumption so I had to find a pair to see if such is the case. They use the same adapter as the 6900

V. interesting Steve, It might be true might be not, depends on the circuit I guess. To me, back in time when I was using 6900 nothing really beat them. Shame I sold them all with SF gear at some point. Should be wiser and drop them to the drawer ;)

If the sockets on ebay are teflon then there shouldn’t be much of a difference. If they are plastic it depends on how well they are made.

Woo adapters are made of Teflon, but not just that. The pins quality is top notch and the contact is perfect and smooth. I don't have these particular ones , but I have many for other tubes and their performance is always quite a way better. To my ears defo worth paying extra. After paying top price for the tubes and the dac, getting short on adapters quality will be wrong thing to do, IMHO.

(1) Mullard CV-181
(2) CSF 5687
(3) 6SN7 Variants

These are my finds and favorites in order
but same as the WE NOS 274B the CV-181 is not cheap so I'll run CSF 5687 . My combo will be KT-170, CSF 5687 , TAK 274 B

Regardless the sound , this is some super cool looking glass arrangement ;)
