Nope, would love to. Taiko has them I think
The KR and Tele 242 are very different beasts. Even if the pair of Tele 242s I had where 100% on the tester I know they would still be very different.

Most likely you'll prefer the KR I think.

KR 242 was made as a replica for the Tele. I will have to hear in different systems to know which I prefer.

I am confused. Have you heard them?

I am sure they will be different. The question is how will they sound.

It's a far off replica. Nowt like the original. That's my point.

And why are you telling me it was made as a replica? Do you think I don't know that?

Ked your like my school kid student, and I'm your 58 year old teacher.

LOL.

I do agree our hearing differences reflect that age difference.

You will be confused even if he has heard them. But that's him, not you

Have you ever heard the Telefunken RS242s in a Pacific?
No, sorry.
Seems extremely rare and therefore also very expensive for an impulse buy into the blue

WE 274B / 46 or 45 EML Mesh are my 2 favorite, hope to try 242's one day. Also depends on which tubes I'm running in pre amp . I listen to mostly Jazz / Blues

I think Golum had tried this.
I did - bought Elrog 274b like a year/year and a half ago and unfortunately had issues with rattling filament with two brand new tubes and TM was really professional and returned the funds. So I can't comment performance wise as I just did not have a chance to give them a proper try - pity as I really wanted to have them. They just look stunning in person.

Agreed all ELROG tubes look killer. So many dodgy stories to haunt the brand, though.

Academic more than anything but when I got the VT-25 I could barely get 7.25V out of them.

Now I can get over 8V no problem.

But I am running them at 7.5V.

Since my Accuphase M-60s got worked on I now rate them as better than my Luxman M-800a, much to my surprise. I've been trying to fight that in my head but the Accuphase amps are now just blatantly better. Every time I switch I am thinking the same. I have now accepted it!;)

Can you feel the love?

Because I can.

This is the sort of place that deserves maximum respect.

Not in the right thread I guess but by rights I started this one and I say it goes;)

That's how I heard it in your system with the other preamp but overall when 45 sounds good I prefer it musically to the PX25
The PX25 seems to be a VERY good compromise when the 242 AND the EML 45 mesh AGs don't work optimally :p

My Takatsuki recti has just died without giving any prior warning:rolleyes:. I replaced it with the KR RK one, but it’s a little too coloured for my taste. What are your favourites in addition to KR RK? What are the best NOS rectifiers that you have tried?

Thanks in advance,
Aziz

If you want very neutral but resolving recti, I have very good experience with Linlai Elite E274B. I can definitely recommend it. I am using it in my Lampi GG2 swapping with Psvane ACME (but that one is warm and colored). I prefer both to KR 5U4G and 274B and I prefer it over EML recti, which I happen to have as well. Never tried Takatsuki, as price seems insane to me.
