Oh, no. Nothing to be sorry about. It would have been me just hoarding them in anticipation of them being very good. Glad another member gets to try them out for an extra datapoint. I am trying the RCA/Cunningham 112As currently. They are better than the National Union 12As.
Here is a pic the two variations of Cunningham CX112As I have now. One looks exactly like the RCAs you posted:
I have been eyeing the KR242 RK, but dissuaded by the cost in the past. But I think now it’s time to roll. Thank you. 242 or PX25? as a starting point? And a good source best300b?.
My recti is the stock Shuguang 5u4g.

If KR or RK 242 works, you don't need another valve. It is unfortunately preamp dependent so you just need to try it. If it doesn't work, sell it immediately and get the special Lampi 45s, PX25, and try various other valves to see which you like best

The 242 is definitely worth trying, but alongside that be sure to try the el cheapo RCA UX-112A, which can be had for less than $70/pair and is likely to outclass almost all the more expensive output tubes you can buy. Rectifier and system dependent, YMMV, IMO, of course.

It occurs to me whilst I have used quite a few Russian valves and found them to be very reliable if not the best sounding, I have never tried a Russian large triode.
So I just bought 2 Svetlana 6S4S on eBay for $50 brand new.
6B4G to UX4 adaptors coming from China so it may take a while to report.
In the current quest for super cheap but good triodes
TBH I don't think they'll be great but you never know!
If anyone happens to have a spare Fivre 5R4GY that they'd be willing to part with -- grey anode, D-D getter, brown base -- please get in touch via PM. Thanks,
