Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Lol. I went back on eBay to buy that pair and realized it was gone. Glad it went to you. Keep us posted.

If they sound better than the RCA 101A, we're in for a treat.
Sorry man! I really would not take them if i knew you wanted them:(...
Sure will report back when they land...you’re still on 112?

Oh, no. Nothing to be sorry about. It would have been me just hoarding them in anticipation of them being very good. Glad another member gets to try them out for an extra datapoint. I am trying the RCA/Cunningham 112As currently. They are better than the National Union 12As.

Here is a pic the two variations of Cunningham CX112As I have now. One looks exactly like the RCAs you posted:

I have been eyeing the KR242 RK, but dissuaded by the cost in the past. But I think now it’s time to roll. Thank you. 242 or PX25? as a starting point? And a good source best300b?.
My recti is the stock Shuguang 5u4g.

If KR or RK 242 works, you don't need another valve. It is unfortunately preamp dependent so you just need to try it. If it doesn't work, sell it immediately and get the special Lampi 45s, PX25, and try various other valves to see which you like best

I would try the RK 242 and If those don't work wonders, you can easily sell them and get RK PX25.
And please also order the matching RK 5u4g rectifier ;)

The 242 is definitely worth trying, but alongside that be sure to try the el cheapo RCA UX-112A, which can be had for less than $70/pair and is likely to outclass almost all the more expensive output tubes you can buy. Rectifier and system dependent, YMMV, IMO, of course.

Does the UX-112A also need such a dreaded adapter like the AD1N and the Gorans favorite (RS247?) or is it just drop-in like the 242?

It has a UX4 base so no adapter needed. Plug and play. It is a wonderful tube.

Thanks for the good news
Where does this tube originate?
What heating selector setting for the UX-112A?

Chris you have a full report on this tube few pages back;)

Top post. Dumping large sums of money on a new RK tube set just is NOT necessary.

IMHO KR and EML just cannot compete with the best NOS tubes - be they expensive or cheap.

One area where the best NOS tubes beat KR and EML valves is microphony. I haven't come across a KR or EML valve that has very low microphony.

RCA UX-112A. Any suggestions where to source in the UK? Can't see any on EBay UK cheers

I would say mainly US of A is the source of the sauce

It occurs to me whilst I have used quite a few Russian valves and found them to be very reliable if not the best sounding, I have never tried a Russian large triode.

So I just bought 2 Svetlana 6S4S on eBay for $50 brand new.

6B4G to UX4 adaptors coming from China so it may take a while to report.

In the current quest for super cheap but good triodes;)

TBH I don't think they'll be great but you never know!

6.3V 1A so same as 6A3 but octal base.

If anyone happens to have a spare Fivre 5R4GY that they'd be willing to part with -- grey anode, D-D getter, brown base -- please get in touch via PM. Thanks,

Does Luke have a page one can browse?
Only ebay where you can see his listings but ping him directly and he'll write you back entire story about the tube...
