So is a KR PX25, KR 242 and RK 242 bake off in the future?

For me those two PX25 and 242 (only have RK) are the ones I will use as they fit my DAC perfectly (at least how i like it). Pitty is that old Elrog 300b died as it was also a phenomenal match with for my DAC.

As promised Norm I had a very pleasant afternoon with Lukasz at my place and we rolled few tubes to get the vibe of them. Started with PX25 which I don't need to describe too much as everything about it is written few pages before. Second one we tried was NEW Elrog 300b which is playing nicely but not on the level of PX25 as the soundstage got shrunk, less dynamic and with less and a bit bloated bass. Next one was my Santa gift in shape of KR242RK and this one was a pure killer overall. Portraying perfect imaging, staging, a bit less bass vs PX25 but rock solid and the vocals were just phenomenal. It needs to be noted that 242 was stone cold not burned in at all. So overall I'm super happy with both PX25 and RK242 and they are my definitely preffered tubes.
Funny thing is that speaking with Lukasz he told me that he somehow forgot on PX25 and after the tonight session and even more resolving one at Christoph place, there might be some surprises regarding this tube in the future .

So anyhow if you plan some tube rolling in your beloved DACs - try one of those or even both...

Hi what is the difference between RK and non RK 242? Can you also try the RK 242 in other Lampi's, or other systems with your Lampi, to check if it is more consistent than normal 242?

Did you get a big drop in noise floor, increased clarity, dynamic range and focus on each note, extension and decay, with the RK 242? Or not?

Hi Ked!
Look those were the initial impressions on RK242 and they are as I wrote. We did not do direct comparison with KR242 as I don't have them but I believe Chris might have done that as while LF was there they had a chance to compare and as far as I know they tried it in Chris GG1 as well as in Der Siebener.
On top Chris is also the proud owner of RK version now so he might chime in with his findings.
Difference in tech spec I'm honestly not aware of except the details like with all RK tubes - triple thickness of glass, Zirconium coating, ceramic base, gold plated pins, increased vacuum,.... and on top they don't look fugly any more
Huge drop in noise floor vs PX25 I honestly did not notice, it definitely had a bit less bass than PX but more defined and punchy as well as a bit more defined imagining. Mids and HF - this is debatable as I love these parts with both tubes. They are both absolute keepers without any shadow of doubt.
