Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Are these VT-62s being used in the Pacific or other equipment? I haven’t been keeping up!

They look like 7.5 volt tubes so I guess not the Pacific.
I reckon Pacific's that take VT-62 should be special order. £25 quid less. Or maybe £17,398,427 more

Just saying.

That said, VT-25 could be more comfortable in said devices.

I'm honestly not sure.

Whatever. I am currently glued to a second system.

I did not hear WE300b so i can’t comment but I trust David. Still i would go with RK242 and if so would skip RK25 as those two are very similar on one side of the spectrum vs lets say 300b as such…

I feel the same gestalt from reading here.

RK 242s and WE 300bs it is then.

Does anyone have experience comparing the Takatsuki 300b with the Audio Note 4300e in the Pacific? If so, what rectifier(s) did you use? Thanks!

I already have one from Tatic (Serbian designer). 801a 4 watts
If all pans out as it should, I should have a pair of Tatic 10Y/801a mono blocks as well on hand...
In the cooking mode..

They can't be used in any "standard" Lampizator DAC. Justin can run them in his modded one. I use them in my preamp ;)

What I was attempting to say was I think VT-62 or VT-25 would be a very nice cost or special order option.

The trouble is as far as I am aware, there are no "new" options available for these valves/tubes.

I ordered some VT-25 two days ago BTW Goran.

I am finding VT-62 to be a superb match when using my Accuphase amplifiers. But far less so with my Luxman. With the Accuphase monos, it's currently my top ranked valve.

I don't think as well there is any new production of those except ELROG 801A ;) which is priced quite above even great NOS ones. I have a pair of Sylvania 10Y/VT25. Still didn't play with them. Based on Gunter input he rates Taylor as top of the crop but Keds favorite one is RCA so I'll roll these to see myself. But look and built wise RCA/Radiotron with carbon plates looks amazing...
I'm glad you love them with Accu

Firing up VT-62 with the Accuphase amps was one of those WTF? moments.

The chap that modified my Lampi did the work on the Accuphase monos. He's done a great job.

Just after yesterday's post, the VT-25s turned up.
IMG_20211031_095851.jpgMarked slightly differently, they nonetheless appear identical inside for all intents and purposes. Sold as NOS, they were cheap at £250 the pair. I think they look to have seen some use TBH. IMG_20211031_095801.jpg

Not tried them yet.

Back to VT-62, here are a few more comments. When using my refurbished Accuphase M-60s compared to the Luxman M-800A, there's no hint that the soundstage is mildy restricted. Character wise the Accuphase monos couldn't really sound more different to the Luxman. They expose detail that's probably a bit much for most people, and with the VT-62s in place, you hear a sound that is massively high in resolution.

After about five minutes of being really impressed, I was convinced they wouldn't get away with this presentation without seriously messing up with some material. So I put on Karen Carpenter doing Masquerade thinking it would be a disaster. But it was excellent. And lengthy listening over a few days confirms no troubles over a range of different genres.

WRT to bass concerns and comments about excerpting an unnatural grip to the sound, for some reason this just isn't evident with the Accuphase monos in place.

So basically it's just a great match. I'm not saying the Accuphase amps are better than the Luxman, please note. But I do hold three power amp choices permanently for use in my system. I do this because rather than constantly buying new gear, I find swapping them around is enough to cure the urge to do so.

Please be aware once again these aren't for standard Lampi use. I'm just doing some private research;)

WE 300b quad arriving Tues or Wed from Rossville.
RK 242s are on back order according to LampiNA.:(

Thinking about a Tak 274b to go with the WE 300bs.

Right now listening and really enjoying TJ 300b mesh globes and RK 5U4G.
Seems like it just keeps getting better and better.

WE 300b quad arrived.
Just starting break in. Sounds very promising.
I got a free Tshirt. :)

Back on Syvannia VT-25 I actually prefer them to VT-62. They are less brightly lit in my system than the Hytron VT-62. The overall personality is quite similar, though.

I went back to the Luxman M-800A last night and once again it doesn't seem to like these thoriated tubes as much as the Accuphase amps do. By a long shot.

So I went to Marconi Osram PX-25 and all was good:)

Looking forward to your thoughts on the WEs cpcat.

Does the t-shirt fit?:)
Yes -for now. ;)
Will report back on the WE 300bs as they break in more.
Using RK 5U4G Recti currently. Takatsuki 274b on deck by Christmas.
Wanted RK 242s also -but not currently available from Lampi.

I am selling my 20 hours-old pair of RK KR 242s on US audio mart if anyone is interested. They just didn’t work for me.

242 is not lush. It is made for see thoroughness and grip that comes only when the electronics match perfectly. So if you want lushness add it downstream.

And the PX25 is not in the same direction as 242, they are just different.

Which rectifiers do you think match well and which move the sound towards lush?

Still breaking in the WE300bs. I can hear the potential now at around 150 hrs. They need to open up a little I think. B9B50E50-1174-4076-9E18-243C793605BB.jpegTak 274b Recti is the latest addition. Slightly quieter I think even than RK 5u4G - these are my two reference Rectis at this point. The stock Svetlana 5u3c is very close as well.

Anybody have any idea how many hours an KR 242 lasts? Or an RK KR 242?

Lampi does not run valves the way amplifiers or pre amps do, so all these will last forever.. Many years
