No matter how good they sound, I still don't get why on Earth he used horns! So people fall in love with this speaker, realize they don't have $600K lying around and then decide to buy another horn speaker, which they are now all of a sudden, in love with and which, surprise, surprise Magico don't make!

He never commented on sound quality. I made the inference he was "less than impressed" with the project...... Here is what he said. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

His comments seem to be in stark contrast to quite a few listeners who reported the Ultimate being one of the best systems they have ever heard. No mention of a guantlet, selling tickets, a spectacle, or a sideshow. And a few comments about the music. Based on some of the comments on just this thread, rather than the Ultimate demo being a sideshow, it seems to be one of the main shows at the event. We might find in the next few weeks that this Magico room may be the most discussed demo at Munich.

As far as buying tickets to experience something this extraordinary, if the circumstances were right, meaning no talking, ability to hear one's own music, a seat near the sweet spot, etc., I could imagine people paying something for that. After all, people flew from around the world and paid to do just that with all kinds of systems under less than ideal circumstances.

He is not well informed. There are already more expensive speakers on the market.

No other horn speaker, maybe with the exeption of the Vox Olympian (which BTW was another $600k speaker at the show, driven by MUCH more expensive amplification) sounded any near close to the U3s. Every other horn speaker at the show I've heard, had driven me OUT of the room in seconds.

As I have not listened to the Ultimate 3 yet - but will do in a few month's - my humble opinion is based exclusively on what I have read. And although I have seen a lot of enthusiasm, I have not read anything solid about these speakers. Just undocumented superlatives in brief reports. But as I have read solid words about the previous Ultimate's from many sources and I believe that usually talented designers perfect their products when they incorporate new technologies and developments I am eagerly waiting for some more documented thoughts or a full review.

I agree. Some of you in this room heard the Ultimate's and the Vox Olympian at the show. Could you give more then a one sentance review of how both systems are. There highs, the bottom end because both use different woofer methods, Did the tubes change things, Was one easier on the ears. Things like that. IT seems the magazine writers must be traveling because almost nothing.

He sure did. I was in the room when he recorded the Raidho D-5 demo ... I'm curious how it turned out. I will probably need to fire up a browser on my audio PC and play it back on my hi-man system instead of desktop
