Member Signatures

Personally I prefer the option to not see signatures unless required. On some forums signatures starting growing huge, and there would be two lines of posts and then many lines of signature. With regular posters, these would appear every time and get irritating, as you got much less screen space on posts then on signatures. So an about link or the ability to rotate screen when required is ideal

I like seeing 3 or 4 lines of Signature if it just lists equipment that readers may need to understand the post or question fully. I agree multi-line signatures are a nuisance. If only the alternative (digging around for the obscure "About") could be changed so the first click on the Avatar offered a "My System" icon, I'd be happy with that too.

For prescriptive purposes I sleep better listing my neighbors system.
Lol. As long as you don’t have to sleep listening to your neighbour’s system  or even worse listening to your neighbour’s music choices :rolleyes:o_O... though in fairness I certainly hope they enjoy mine ;)

Yes, the list of the equipment in the signature is extremely useful if kept at a reasonable size - 3 or 4 lines seems perfect. If people want more they should look elsewhere - the about or a link to my system.

I'm fairly new on here and honestly I felt the signatures were intimidating seeing the level of gear most have on here which make my humble setup appear entry-level. I just added a signature listing but I suspect I'm not alone in the intimidation factor. Ha.

Welcome DeadWax, love the 0/96 monkeys... that’s a great looking system you’ve put together there.

Likewise on your system Tao, and thanks! My next frontier will likely involve exploring the likes of your SET & Shindo type gear.

Welcome to WBF, DeadWax!

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. There is a lot of appreciation here on WBF for each of your components! DeVore, VAC, Pass, Kuzma, Lampi -- that is all great stuff! Your system is very far from a modest system! :)

And even if it were truly modest, who cares? All I care about, and all almost all of the members here care about, is that you love listening to music on your system!

Thanks Ron. And yes - it's all about the music. :)

Thanks DeadWax. The monkeys sounded lovely with the LM219ia... but if I had the LM805ia when I tried these out I’d probably now have a pair. The 805 with 300B injects that extra quality of aliveness and a big hearted verve that really would suit your 0/96s I figure.

Very nice and I bet you're right @the sound of Tao . There are a lot of SET's to consider but I agree that something with a bit more power like the 805 may be a really good match. I assume even the 219 had plenty of grip on the O/96s? I was thinking of something in the 18-40 wpc range, give or take.

Perfect I’d feel. Btw this is one of the real advantages of everyone sharing their systems... it strikes up better connection and conversation. Might remind us all about what really connects us. Great idea for a thread topic Peter.

How could you leave out those magic cement blocks from you gear listing. :( Shame on you Tao.

It is the heavy stuff we lug around that binds us together :)

I used to list my gear on some sites but stopped doing it as I felt some people were judging others by what they had meaning the playing field was no longer level. May be i will start again at the risk of humbling ourselves in public.

I would rather say your system sports very well chosen pieces of equipment

Discussing some brands seems to be sport around here, so perhaps people would rather not expose themselves to posible judgement. Others may not want to be labeled, identified, or characterized by a list of components. Just a guess.
Correct. It's my way...

This is a very intimidating system, because I prefer Devore Orangutans much more than the likes of many expensive hifi cones like Wilson, Magico, etc. This is because the Devore is a very simple speaker that just lets the music flow. Every LP that you will put on there will result in a new concert, showing what's on the LP, rather than playing the same soundstage over and over. I have heard the O96 with Jadis 100w integrated, Silvercore 833c 20w, a 520 valve (like 300b) 20w amp,and NAF 2a3 (10ish watts) in one room, where I preferred best the NAF. In the same room I preferred it to the 20k and 65k Lansche (which are very good speakers, and which sounded the best with the Jadis, the NAF was low powered for them).

In another room I compared Airtight 300b integrated and Airtight EL34, a 34w push pull, and preferred the 300b. The EL34 sounded better on the Cessaro Wagner, which required more power. The Devore was much superior to the Wagner even with the EL34, much more so with the 300b. The good thing is that unlike many speakers, Devore responds to lower power as you go down, up to 10w or so. I also tried it with Kondo el34 push pull, the overrture, in another room, didn't like.

My choice from these demos would be the NAF 2a3 integrated, which had KR valves. Very clean, no valve fuzz, more nuanced than the other amps heard in the same room, excellent flow, transparent in terms of see through and transparent to recordings. Good drive. You also have the Lampi which is by far the best digital.
