Metal Mats

I’m sure most will find the CU 180 as an upgrade. It is the highest price option for the least features however (such as it is pretty thin and has no slope).

It certainly is an upgrade. I use one each on my SP10 mk3 and Exclusive P3. Being flat is an advantage as I don't use a clamp/record weight. My various weights just sit on another shelf as I prefer the record naked.

Can you even use a sloped metal mat if you don't use a clamp/weight?

Nope. Doesn't bother me at all. Weights are cheap and effective.

the bronze weight from Stefano is 1,2 or 1,3 kg......

Outer rings do make a difference. Centering them can be fun! I have felt pads on mine so it doesn't damage the lp edge.
Just have to be very careful with the cartridge......loss of a Goldbug Mr Brier in my case.

I got cnc´d an acrylic centering disc that fits inside the upper part of the ring and a flange that hangs outside the ring, which makes it possible to center "on the fly"w/o stopping the tt

Nice. That is what I am missing from my Kenwood.

got my first CU-180 today
placed it straight on the bronze platter and it dampens very well....will try that first because then I won´t have to change VTA since rubber/cork and CU-180 are both 5mm thick....
then test like on picture
exciting...
maybe I even try it on the Basis

playing with it now directly on top of bronze platter....definitely speedier and more dynamic
no slope on this one but I have peripheral weight and center weight

Nice especially unassuming vintage display chassis behind the Garrard.
