The latest addition to my listening room is literally a 'heaven sent' full function preamp from VAC - the Signature Triode MKII. According to the manual, burn in period is 150 hours and I have probably reached 120 hours and the transformation from first hour to know is quite startling and revealing. It is a very musical preamp from the onset and while the days and hours go on, the sound just keep blooming into something I rarely experience before from a preamp with just its stock China/Russia made tubes. The sound is just magical , with an incredible portrayal of the soundstage of any recording. It is devoid of any harshness and for sure, does not create listening fatigue.

Yes, it's a pure power amp. Before that, I used two models of Audio Research for about 15 years between them.

Do you think it's transforming in direct proportion to hours used or did the last hours or transformation bring a particularly drastic change?

I feel the last hours brought in a drastic change, specially in the dynamics, speed and transients. Though the early hours brought in some improvements here and there, they were small. But what really separates this preamp from those I had used is that it rendered the sound from the speakers virtually transparent. It's very laid back with a wide and deep soundstage. And the midband is something to die for, lush and liquid.

Thanks!. Maybe I couldn't wait that long. I have matched pairs for first gain and second gain tubes plus incoming matched pairs of 2 different brands of 6022s for the line stage. This is one piece of gear that really sounds good with generic China 12AX7s and EH 6922s.

Agree, Christoph. To replace the EH, I have ordered a pair of Amperex Holland E188CC and another pair of Mullard 2492s from my favorite sources from Europe.
