2.....Four edges on top mica, one side hole and one bar on plate
3.....Four edges on top mica, two side holes and two bars on plate

Two of my favorite E88CC. The Philips tubes are really underrated, while the Telefunkens probably need no introduction.

There are no best tubes in the world as they're all system dependable , your Telefunken E88CC looks like Made by Siemens
That is the common wisdom, yes. The same goes with Telefunken D3a - apparently made by Siemens. However, in both cases, the Telefunkens sound different than those actually marked as Siemens. Go figure.

As to the "best" also correct. It is always the entire circuit that creates the sound. However, I think I can now ascribe certain sound generalities to certain tubes as they seem to hold true in numerous circuits.

I agree with you that there is no best tube.

They are just like nice vintage wines.

They sound different.

I change tube from time to time to tast differnt flavor. ;)
