New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

I can talk sports talk all my life, specially basketball which I've come to love and played the game. Shall we talk the bitter rivalry between the Sixers and my team? When they termed Andrew Toney the Boston Strangler (who was a serial killer in the area) LOL. Shall I hate Dr. J for punching Bird while his team mate grabbed a helpless Bird? You're right, I almost forgot, Shaq got traded to Miami because he was rapping about Kobe kissing his ass, and the feud. And Shaq got bounced to yes, LeBron's Cavs in which they won no title, and Shaq finally got bounced to the Celtics in his most ballooned self, always had a foot injury. But Shaq wasn't concocting any title run by 'himself' in those bounces really, he wasn't with his 'posse' as Phil Jackson called LeBron's inner circle, he didn't orchestrate an illegal lunch or dinner with Anthony Davis to cause him to fire his manager and link up with Rich Paul and demand a trade with the Pelicans in the famous T shirt heralding 'that's all folks' to a Pelicans team which he was under contract to play FOR. And Shaq never caused his coach (like the poor Blatt) be fired for doing virtually nothing wrong, and Shaq never caused a hiring that of Westbrook (a hard worker btw) and the non hiring of ace shooter Buddy Hield either. And for some news about Rich Paul's and Lebron's trade rumors, one of them is here.

I have no problems with any difference of opinions, indeed it make interesting talk and I love to talk basketball.

I should say Go Celtics but they really suck this season, specially last night. :D
There are just too many good teams this year Phil. There is no room for old players and old coaching methods. I find this to be actually quite exciting . The only team that keeps on going is the Suns yet the Grizzlies are number one in the power rankings

thinking about the 4 team in each conference that will be in the play in round..... I could never understand why the league did this when they were in the bubble and continued last year , only to make it permanent this year. Yet the league is just laden with great teams that I find the play in round can actually make for some good excitement early on in the playoffs

We should call this the "Kyrie Diaries" as it puts things in perspective........

Nine games, 8,000 miles and Kyrie Irving's return: Inside the Brooklyn Nets' frenzied two-plus weeks

The Nets are now in first place in the East and showing some signs. Yet I am not so certain that even with Kyrie that they can emerge from the East

Injuries and league covid protocols are truly the unknown factor and can become the silent enemy for so many teams. There's just no getting around it. FWIW, Stephen Johnson the G-league player who was on the streets has become the best player on the Lakers team in the last 5 games

I can be ok with getting rid of Davis. He's been a disappointment since they won two years ago HOWEVER for the Lakers to once again get rid of their young players in the trade makes zero sense as once again the Lakers would have an ancient team . THT IMO is a cornerstone to the Lakers future as is Kent Bazemore (both involved in the trade)

When will Pelinka either be fired or begin to realize that blowing up and rebuilding with youth is the way to go

This rumor seems a bit shocking to either teams.

as I see it Phil, the old school team philosophy from years gone by is not enough for teams to rely on to get them further up the standings. There has clearly been a huge uptick in so many 2nd tier teams that to rely on Lakers purple and gold or Celtics shamrock green and their old styles is like falling on the sword

True, Steve. The young guards are setting the stage.

I saw a player from Portland whom I've never seen before. Simons is his name and he was making baskets at will over the Celtics who were doing their best teams stop him.

My final thought as to LeBron possibly going to the Cavs once again. For me I would welcome the opportunity to kick his ass out of LA but having said that, to me the move would finally reinforce the fact that he is a carpet bagger who will "take his talents" to wherever he is more assured of winning another ring

I doubt it wold ever happen as he is too entrenched in stardom from his academy award role in Space Jam

he seems to be dying his beard a lot more often recently to cover all the grey. Perhaps the more likely move would be to get rid of Pelinka and give the job to Rich Paul

That may facilitate a trade in for Ben Simmons who is managed by Rich Paul.

To save myself from unnecessary angst I decided that it isn't worth getting all worked up (too much) this season.

There are so many Covid issues and injury issues that it isn't fair to judge any executive, coach or player given the circumstances - although we all will ;)

That's why I'm in favor of the Clippers calling it a development year and playing the youngsters.

With Kawhi out, PG13 out and the Clippers playing G Leaguers that's about the best I can hope for.

And time for a little break from basketball, to root for the Niners in about an hour. Go Niners. They're the team I first saw when I learned what American Football in the mid 80s. And was lucky enough to attend a live game there.

I never thought the Niners would win this one, and they're 2 more wins away from being the champions. And the Warriors who are now playing in downtown SF can make it a double. :D

this is where I hate to see injuries to key players Bulls are in trouble now with serious injuries to Alex Caruso and to Lonzo Ball which will keep them out 6-8 weeks each......

Do injuries to guards Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso threaten the Chicago Bulls' surprisingly strong season?

Within days, the Bulls learned they'd be without both of their playmakers and defensive stalwarts due to injury. On Thursday, Ball underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee that the team said is expected to sideline him six to eight weeks.

Two days later, Chicago announced that Caruso will also need surgery after suffering a broken wrist when he was flagrantly fouled by Milwaukee Bucks guard Grayson Allen on Friday night. Caruso's timetable to return is also six to eight weeks.

Although overshadowed by the addition of DeMar DeRozan, the defense, shooting and playmaking provided by Ball and Caruso have also helped the Bulls go from the lottery to leading the Eastern Conference before Friday's loss. They join a lengthy injury list in Chicago that also includes All-Star guard Zach LaVine, who's currently sidelined by knee soreness but expected to return sooner, and starting power forward Patrick Williams.

With the East standings crowded at the top -- the Bulls are now tied with the Miami Heat a half-game back of the Brooklyn Nets, while four other teams are within three games of them in the standings -- Chicago's positioning is precarious.
