New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

I thought the Bulls were done when Rose went down and they traded Luol Deng. They still play well.

Their players have heart and a lot of credit must go to Tom Thibodeau. He is a great coach.

+1. Tom provided the D beside Doc in Boston's title year in 2008. Big loss for Boston but big gain for the Bulls. He has a system that works well.

Doc is using Thibodeau's defensive system with the Clippers. They haven't perfected it yet but they are ranked 8th in defensive efficency so far this season. Much improved from last year.

Clippers play the Suns at Staples tonight. Suns have played well against the Clipers this year.

Blake Griffin needs to step up as he has a big size advantage in this game.

Clippers - Suns game got very chippy in the last 5 minutes. Suns came back from a 25 point deficit to close to within 4 but the Clippers held on for the win 112 - 105.

Blake Griffin had 37 points.

Goran Dragic is a heck of a point guard for Phoenix - have to admire his spunk.

granger off the bench for 14. that's good for the clippers. reddick and crawford still on the sidelines and when they come back, the bench will be deep.

Granger is making progress and starting to look more confident. That was his best game so far.

Worried about Redick - he has a bulging disk or similar back issue and they aren't certain when he's coming back. Crawford has a calf injury that needs a little more time to heal.

Phil Jackson, Knicks finalizing deal

By Chris Broussard | ESPN The Magazine

Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks are expected to finalize a deal that will give the legendary coach control of the club's front office by the end of this week, according to a league source.

"Everything is pretty much done," the source said. "There are just some little things here and there that need to be worked out, but the Knicks are very confident that this is essentially done."

An official announcement might not come until next week, the source said.

There has been speculation that Jackson is using the Knicks to get a top-flight job with another franchise, particularly the Los Angeles Lakers, but the source said the Knicks have no fear of Jackson leaving them at the altar for another team.

Jackson will take over the Knicks' basketball operations department from president and general manager Steve Mills. Mills, however, will remain an integral part of the organization, according to the source.

While Jackson will certainly spend plenty of time in New York, it is not clear exactly how much, the source said.

"I think if he has the wherewithal to understand that these jobs are difficult, that they're frustrating and he's not going to be able to coach the players unless he wants to, I'm sure he could do a great job," Jerry West told The New York Post on Monday night. "Coaching and being an executive are different things. But he has a lot to draw on in terms of experience with players, how to organize teams and how to put them together. The biggest thing to learn is that you're going to need a lot of really good players."

Well supposedly the big sticking point is Carmelo agreeing to stay.

Bynum plays his first game in Indiana. 8 points, 10 boards. Not that. That's what he's expected to do actually. Pacers end a nightmarish 4 game losing streak with a win over my Celtics.

I also wonder what the league dictates if he takes the job, because he is engaged to Jeannie Buss

That's an interesting question. If he marries her he would be an heir to the Buss fortune presuming he's not excluded in a pre-nup.

Little conflict of interest there....he could trade Carmelo for Pau Gasol. :)

It would be fun to watch Carmelo and Kobe fight for the ball.

Bynum...is it possible he's finally starting to grow up?

Nah, give him more time. The real Bynum will show up or end up on the DL.

don't forget he's got 2 rings. just like Le Bron. bird is telling him he has a chance to get more than James. :)

Lakers announce today that Kobe will remain out for the rest of the season

one term struck me from reading Celtics sites, meaningless wins. i now see the point specially with teams heading downward. what's the point? and in the same token, what's the point of risking kobe's health for a few meaningless wins?

Me thinks you can see a retirement announcement in the offing.

now that is an interesting thought. That would be bigger than LeBron's "Announcement". I can't see it happening though as Kobe is too much of a competitor
