New Wadax Atlantis Reference Dac

And you can place reference server, transport, and PSU each on Herznan or some active isolation where you can mod each with its own power supply. Now imagine if that owner also has CH in individual blocks with its power supplies
to begin with, the Ref Dac will be located on the Tana (Herzan) shelf where the NVS has been. assuming the height of the Tana does not cause a cable length issue for the USB reaching the two servers. otherwise the Ref dac will sit 'naked' on the top shelf. i'll go from there. i am curious about whether the Tana or double Dazia will be more complimentary, or exactly which shelf interface will end up being best. it will take some time to figure it out.

Twice, the first in 2019 at HifiLive Show with the DAC Reference and the Atlantis Server with Magico M2 speakers. The speakers may have influenced my perception of the SQ, as the Magico sound has never been my favorite, but I can say that I was not impressed. A month and a half ago I listened again, now the complete combo and Göbel speakers. I liked the sound much more, huge dynamics and great soundstage. Now I did not think as it happens to many of those who have listened to the combo, that we were facing a new digital paradigm. Maybe a 24 m2 room (not enough for the Gobel) and the presence of two Magico Project M behind the Gobel, or maybe my ears are not good enough, who knows.

Nonesup, that's like saying if you don't agree with a woman as being the most beautiful ever, there's something wrong with your eyes.

Well maybe my musical tastes do not coincide with the majority.

Extraordinary systems were presented at the Hifi Live Show and the room that I liked the most would surely not be voted by 1% of the attendees. Wilson Benesch + Yba Signature. Naturally there were rooms with a much more spectacular sound, but it was in that room that I felt there was emotion.

i agree that pulling the source equation out of a system is tricky. when i try to hear things at a show i find it takes a few shows and different contexts to come up my conclusion. with the MSB it took me 4 shows to tip me over.

I want to hear the difference. I'm not trying to sidetrack but I have 2 comments.

Do we exaggerate difference. At this level, is it splitting hairs, just different, or is one really better than the other.

Why a transport. Why are makers building transports. I have been told a transport will outperform the best server due to the way it process the data. But I have also been told an SD card reader works the same as a transport. And an SD card can have playlist, albums, multiple album, 24x192, DSD etc playback. Sure, keep the transport to rip to an SD card. But why mess with media if the same piece of equipment can be built with better functionality. Or at least embed a SD player in the streamer and use SPDIF,I2S or other superior to USB connection. Think Less loss Laminar.

I will certainly give the Wadax Reference System another listen the next time I have the opportunity. There could have been something off with the room at Capital Audio Fest. IMHO, I thought the Wadax sounded very similar to the DCS Stack, which never moved me. I much preferred the new Esoteric Grandioso components in the VAC/Von Schweikert room for realism.

So where does the NVS go
while i have two, large, complete 4 box digital systems in my room, it will be on a table over near the Tape Decks observing the festivities. :) once that is over it might go back to it's perch. the NVS is by far the easiest to move; it's a one piece chassis i can personally pick up (110 pounds). the Saskia (175 pounds just for the plinth) or CS Port (3 pieces, the plinth being 100 pounds) are much more daunting. and the NVS is right above the dart pre for IC access length.

long term, once i know how this change might enter into the whole listening equation, the tt question will be my focus. not intending 4 tt's forever. never did. but this is a subject for later.

Your EMT will easily be the first to go. Sonically at least

Mike, anyone who didn't know Ked would think his "innocent" Q re where your NVS goes was a barely-concealed hint to put it in a crate and send it to London. Of course, for those that know him better...

it's far left side of the 4 racks, and not relevant to the space challenges. as far as performance, it's sneaky good. the investment is a small fraction of the others too. a nice tt/arm for my stereo cut monos. it beats all the others on those pressings with a cart (less than) 20% as spendy. so it's 'good enough'.

Commenting on an outcome that hasn't happened or the motivation of a committed independent, well-respected audiophile who has been unselfishly sharing his thoughts here for decades is just plain stupid and disrespectful in the extreme.

Besides, who would you rather have do this? One of the "professional" reviewers from the usual sources? Gimme a break.
Mike has fine tuned his room and equipment trough many years, and owned or tried most unobtainable gear prolonged under these conditions ! :) What reviewer can honestly claim that ? Mike never says anything bad about anything, or anybody, he just as the gentleman he is, quietly sells of what does not meet his high standards. I respect that !:)

Interesting what Roy wrote about the Wadax reference server and Akasa cable on ‘page’ 2: “even more impressively groundbreaking” than the reference dac.
