New Wadax Atlantis Reference Dac

Stereophonic, you're gonna struggle to convince anyone outside this hobby, and indeed many people inside it, that a $250k DAC/server, no matter how good, is in any way the real world rather than a dreamed one.
And since the upper echelon stuff priced at these levels remains a dream to the vast majority, then we need to hear what stuff these dreams are made of.
Which brings us back to Mike lol.

i've gone to a lot of trouble to have this opportunity. and will move around my system to allow for all this gear to work. you can imagine i have thought a great deal about it and the process.

Again thank you for your reply yesterday explaining all this. I get the feeling this will be handled in gentlemanly fashion.

Unique? Excuse me, but there is life out there..
With all my respect…Mike is a man doesn’t a God. If he buys Wadax he won’t be the only one. There are some MSB Select users which already have done this change.
I don’t want to private anybody of anything.
Sure Mike will do a stunning report, we’ll have a fun time, but one more time. So what?
I only guess best experience possible to Mike in this test…
Plenty have bought WAMM Master Chronosonics and M9s as well. We like to hear from them too.

And who says is considering Mike a God? I tell him that I doubt that there is anyone with the team that has Mike is (or would be) willing to publish a report in a forum, so I say that the opportunity is unique.

Yes, but Mike may very well not report on the trial. We'll just hear about his final choice, stick or twist. And nary a comparative word.

Commenting on an outcome that hasn't happened or the motivation of a committed independent, well-respected audiophile who has been unselfishly sharing his thoughts here for decades is just plain stupid and disrespectful in the extreme.

Besides, who would you rather have do this? One of the "professional" reviewers from the usual sources? Gimme a break.

For all the personal impressions this forum gives outsized weight to. It is amazing how often the scientific process is referenced. I may be rather uninformed here, but normally that means writing up findings afterwards if any outward response to a trial is desired. I think the conscious decision not to cross over into, or step on the toes of those active in, journalism is personally relevant.

BTW I know some rather well off people who daily drive KIA, Toyota, or Ford. The only ones with sports cars have sufficient skills behind the wheel and at knowing when to hold their own company.

Mike has been doing it for the most part of 40 years. And we have been reading them forever, sometimes still the old ones on audiogon. It will be fine

I guess people have a lot of extra time on their hands since this conversation is going nowhere fast.

Mike has a great system and a unique opportunity to hear 2 TOTL DACs and servers side by side. Either you trust Mike’s ear or you don’t, but his report on this is a valuable data point for digital music. I, for one, am very interested in what he has to say even though there is very little chance I will ever own either DAC and I am not replacing my Extreme server either.

Everyone’s review has to be taken with a grain of salt. That’s not new. But if don’t think what Mike has to say about this is important to you then just move on. The rest of us will stay.

That's very zen of you Peter. We need more "still waters" motifs. Unfortunately for many audiophiles, "run deep" is more appropriate.
For some ..."calm", and others..."before the storm" etc.

The length of the course and the pace at which it is navigated are up to the individual.
Some might chose , take a different ( direction ) track then yours all together.
In that case there is never gonna be a meet up / conversion in the end.

All this talk/ aim always about " best, best " , afaic its not applicable in high end audio

There may not be a metal, but there is a finish line. Some people know it when they get close and then cross over it. The length of the course and the pace at which it is navigated are up to the individual.

You will change your system Peter. The length and pace is upto you, but there is no finish

That's cheating Ked, Peter will always have to re-tip his stylus.

please let's return this thread to the subject of the Wadax Reference dac, and not about me or my process....positive or negative. i don't presume to be in a position to tell anyone what to post, it's just my view on what is the best thing for now. today is New Years Eve and we should be doing fun things. :)

Well Mike, if you don't mind I'll make a small toast at 23.59 tonight to your upcoming party (aka DHL delivery next week) lol. Have you got some help to move stuff about, the Wadax ain't no Walkman or Berning 211?
The best of luck with everything.
