Well, perhaps they have their own forum(s) where they can discuss Tune Dem ... as if it actually mattered.

Perhaps they were banned?

I'd ban the infidels too ... but ... hey ... wait a moment T ... you own a Linn.

(gulp)

I own a couple of Linn products. An Akurate DS for digital and a non circus LP-12. I like the Akurate DS allot. I don't use the LP12 anymore since I upgraded to a different TT and arm.

Can't say I ever paid much attention to the Tunedem mumbo jumbo.

I really like my LP-12, I'm just not mental about it...

I very much like the Akurate DS. I also liked, and nearly purchased, the Akurate SACD/CD player, which was discontinued.

That said, I prefer Linn digital to Linn analog, which is kinda ironic considering it's Linn?

I get "a kick" when a Linn tech visits our local audio saloon and proceeds to setup the Linn system using "tune-dem" as the key to all things good in audio. Then again, I'm a sucker for such cheap entertainment.

Kinda, I guess, is the Linn insignia obvious to others?

Oh yes. It is actually blue and lit. Unfortunately no one has ever set foot in my basement that would be able to tell a
Linn insignia from the brand logo on a box of cereal.

They are indeed worthy turntables ... the latest greatest fully decked out LP12 is better than many audiophiles may think!

My problem with the LP12 is the hypocrisy ... not only did others do it earlier, they did it better, and the fact that it took Linn decades to catch up via very expensive "upgrade" paths only confirmed my ...

Well ... almost counts ... do you have a picture of Ivor in your basement?

I agree. If Linn had put in as much effort into analog as they did into digital then that may not be the case. I also think they should completely redesign their TT if they want to really advance it IMO. They have been lazy sticking with the same chassis all these years.

Like I said, the latest fully decked LP12 is a true hi-end performing turntable in my opinion. However, at no point has it (to me) represented the best bang for your analog $buck, although it still represented fine value. I mentioned the hypocrisy; as an example ... I remember in some Linn literature I read many moons ago, they defended the use of the relatively cheap AC motor while pooh pooh'ing the future use of a DC motor in the LP12 ... claiming that the motors PS was more important than the motor itself.

Well, guess what ... the latest greatest LP12 uses a DC motor and a new PS. Therefore you can now replace any Lingo (+motor) you may have purchased as an upgrade, via yet another "upgrade" ... for $,$$$.$$.

My biggest gripe with the LP12 is I can't put any of the arms I like on it. The better arms with all the adjustments I want (VTA on the fly,Azimuth) are too heavy for it. None of Linn's own arms have these features either.

I understand.

Although, once I set up SRA optimally ... I'm done setting.

I pretty much enjoy my LP-12 for what it is. Not much of an analog tweaker anyway.

I have owned three different Sondek's - the original model with the large square red push button, later a black plinth Valhalla and an Aformosia with the Lingo. The best sound I got from a Sondek was with the Naim Aro tonearm.

Yep, congrats, you're a Linnie ...

Well, in retrospect, perhaps you're half Linnie / half Naimy ...

I owned an Intek, a Wakonda, an Axis and an LP12 - all great products until I switched to a naimfan :)
