Nice turntables Johan - which triggered I just added another TA-7000 tonearm in gold and love the impact and flexibility on the table. Acoustic Signature provides great value for the money, excellent sound quality, great aesthetics and achieves the WAF.

Hi Lagonda,

I’m have the MartinLogan ReQuest as front speakers and a total of 8 MartinLogan subwoofers. In front I have stacked three BF-210 on top of each other, acting as one BIG subwoofer - times two.. Left and right channel and a total of 6 M-L BF-210 in the front
In the back I have two BF-212, one on each side of the sweetspot.
Very handy when you don’t like to move around with the vaccum cleaner?.

Thank you Jonaiken,

Very nice to see… Your Ascona looks amazing too. Very nice with the gold touch on the TA-7000.

The DS Audio W3 cartridge with matching W3 preamp/equalizer is phenomenal sounding and has taken my system up two levels. The combination far exceeds my digital and many analog rigs costing thousands more. I upgraded from the DS Audio 003 Optical Cartridge/equalizer system which is also a great sounding optical cartridge system and highly recommend to anyone wanting to spend up to 10k for a new cartridge and phono preamp. Actually the DS 003 is a bargain @$6K compared to other cartridge and phono preamps comparatively priced.

Thank you hogen,
If you did refer to my Ascona Neo, so yes and no…
Arm 1; TA-9000 12”
Arm 2; Kuzma 4point 11”
Arm 3; TA-5000 9”

All the best / Johan
Johan, how is the TA-9000 arm compared to Kuzma 4point11? I had a 4point9 but never installed it on the Ascona Neo and decided to sell it and go with two TA-7000.

I'm pondering a Montana NEO with the TA7000 arm, the same combo reviewed in Stereophile.

I'm just trying to justify the price jump between the Typhoon NEO and Montana NEO, but I like the control placement on the corner post better than the controller box in the middle.
Hi there BillK,

I’ve had the Typhoon, the Montana and now finally the Ascona…
In my opinion I think the prestanda of the three is like ”tripp - trapp - trull”..!!
-What I mean is.. The prestanda double in each step uphill. That is what I found anyway.
The Typhoon was just an amazing turntable, but when the Montana arrived, I was chocked how much better it was in every way…
I thought it couldn’t be much better than that, untill I heard the Ascona… It just blow me away…
The power, the attack, the airyness, the size of the soundstage, the quiet background and the 3D image… Ohhh my god… Just monster prestanda!
And then more: I found that the Ascona Neo machine it self was MUCH more quiet than the two previous turntables together …

This is just my opinion and thoughts when testing out the turntables here at my place.

Johan, how is the TA-9000 arm compared to Kuzma 4point11? I had a 4point9 but never installed it on the Ascona Neo and decided to sell it and go with two TA-7000.
Well it’s two diffrent legues… The Kuzma 4point is a much more heavy arm and works better with carts with low compliance, and I have a Koetsu Blue Lace on mine.. and the prestanda from the 4point and the BlueLace is outstanding and act like a workhorse here. It definitely works great on rock, pop, acoustical music and voices… in my system I must add.

The TA-9000 12” is lighter, but ever so tight and strong. The bearings is just amazingly light and exact. It’s very well damped, though not overdamped, but act as the most stable holder to my AirTight Opus-1 cartridge.
I find that it performs extra good on jazz (any type o jazz) and on classical pieces.
I do play everything on the TA-9000 too from time to time, but when you shift between the arms, I find that some music just performs best on one of the arms, and then I usually stick to that combination.. on that particular album - what ever it might be.

One of the things I am concerned about is how lively the plinth is.

My current turntable is excellent at isolation from the table - which is great as I had to use a Gingko platform under my previous turntable or records with a lot of bass would feedback.

The Acoustic Signature looks like the feet also provide good isolation, but with my current turntable if I tap the plinth while a record is playing it comes through the speakers as a loud boom, and I can't help believe that doesn't affect the sound being picked up by the stylus as vibrations make their way from the plinth back to the stylus, adding extra reverb if you will that shouldn't be there.

I also wonder how well it handles even the very minor warps most records have without the use of either vacuum hold down or a peripheral ring of some type.
Hi BillK,

I bought an outer stabilizing ring at Wayne’s Audio to my Technics SL-1200G to stabilize wraped racords and found that it worked very well on the Typhoon as well on the Montana.
Unfortunatly it does NOT work on my Ascona due to a diffrent platter design, but on the Montana and Typhoon it works great though they have a similar platter design.

I hope the tip from the coach (Crazy wede) will help with all your wraped vinyl…

Ps. Yes it’s the same ring, made for Technics, but fits some of the A-S models. Ds.
