Steve, the photos of your Duracell were the inspiration for me to change my order right before shipment from the gold top to the copper. So thanks for that. Always liked the copper top on my GG. Just matches the surroundings better in my case. The GG was manufactured in 2016 and still looked perfect the day I shipped it back to the motherland, even sober
BTW, I use the RK PX25. The rest of the world is waiting for your assessment of these. The best I’ve tried so far, but haven’t gotten around to the 242 yet. A mystery I’m holding on to.

What PX25 type tubes are used in your Allnic amps as stock?
Btw. I got my Duracell Pacific with the RK PX25 in May over a year ago.

I love that brute force dynamics and that's why I haven't tried my RK-KR PX25 yet
No reason to try the RK 242 then if the regular 242 matches your system so perfectly.
But after you already own the RK PX25 anyways, I think for curiousity reasons alone, I would try the RK PX25, even if it is just to have a slightly different flavour

I’m running regular KR PX25 in the amps. Unfortunately the Pacific is a UX4 base and the amps are UF4 so they aren’t interchangeable, unless I can find adapters. But pursuing this has crossed my mind. The RK PX25 is not available with the UF4 pin out. I have KR 5u4g rectifiers coming in soon. In this case I could swap rectifiers, but would need another RK 5u4g. However, the RK doesn’t fit in the amp chimney. Could just leave it off too.Sorry for my OT question here:

Don’t know what the stock tubes would be in these as I knew I wanted KR. The dealer is running 1930’s Marconi’s In his.
These amps are very fresh so I haven’t said anything about them yet. But I can say that the low end and overall dynamics are quite good. Seems remarkable that my dac and amps are using the same basic tubes. Could have gone with a 300b version of the amps, but I prefer the PX25 to the 300b in the dac so applied the same logic to the amps.
Yes, it’s good to have options for the dac. Someday I’ll try the 242.
Does your PAC have the internal output switches to reduce output? Mine does and I run on the lower output setting.

The fact that you don't understand it despite repeatedly stating is the sad part. It didn't work properly in your system and I didn't like it there either. No disagreement. Yet you will continue to state loudly how the tube sucks instead of trying to listen to it in a properly set up condition. The same goes for people who have heard vdh Stradivarius in not proper conditions, it sounds shite, or Marc that day commenting a one off experience where the London Decca is bright and shrill.

I find this fascinating as I have never heard of these. Where are these switches. Are they standard or only installed upon request
I believe they are now standard. Remove the top cover. There are toggle switches located on the top circuit board, on the back edge close to the output connections.
Overall my system has too much gain so this certainly helps. I ordered mine 12-31-2019.
Far sadder is a man who goes round listening to the same fairly average sounding classical recordings over and over again with a mind closed to hearing anything else.
A man who doesn't own a system, and only has at best 2 to 4 hours to do quick compares to establish which KR or EML he prefers from a limited selection.
Indeed, a man who hasn't heard Tesla AD1, Tesla RD27AS, Loewe AD1, or real MOV PX25s and yet still thinks the KR242 is amazing.
You need to stay in more and self-isolate harder with a decent system, some decent valves and adequate proper time to assess them with recordings that are actually high quality.

It is also the preamp. The point is unlike you I would never comment on improperly set up gear which you like to do against the 242 once a month. That's why commenting on apogees after listening to yours is unfair. One day we will get you to listen to a proper Lampi and a proper apogee. Btw I, Bill, dctom, Al, and others requested the heater to be set to 242 because we had the sense to be more open minded when we auditioned. If you want to be fair, listen to properly set up gear, and comment, not that stuff you had with your previous preamp that a beginner DIY can improve on. Maybe now that you have got the Luxman after years of me telling you to, you must be listening to proper stuff with your valves
