For burn-in of the PAC itselfHas anyone tried a solid state rectifier?
Doesn't really sound good at all

@Blake I have a quad of PT14 ordered. My question is about how long a burn-in period? In my system, they are exceptionally transparent and holographic. They reveal much more information on the recording- a resolution enhancer, with no weakness in the frequency spectrum. Like going to a super high resolution television. But the key is, this tube is definitely not sterile, clinical or bright. They present with a very natural and realistic sound. A hard combo to achieve in my experience.
The improvements are relatively shocking. Not subtle.
One word of caution, if you are looking to increase the existing level of warmth in your system or push your sound to a warmer, fuller, rounder presentation, these are not going to do it for you. They are neutral.
Of course, others may hear them differently.
EDIT: On another note, I also have the Fivre 5Z3 rectifier posted above. It is a really nice tube and adds some additional body, heft, fullness to the sound, without rolling things off, a good combo with the PT14 and a great all-rounder for a rectifier.

Currently i have ShuGuang 300Bs. Thanks
THX @BlakeI was hearing something special cold out of the box, even without burn in, but if you like them after 50-100 hours, then they are keepers. They continue to improve after that for perhaps 300 hours or thereabouts.
I find the PT14 have a certain softness despite their great transparency.I was hearing something special cold out of the box, even without burn in, but if you like them after 50-100 hours, then they are keepers. They continue to improve after that for perhaps 300 hours or thereabouts.
Tubes usually get "softer" as they break in. I have not yet encountered the opposite...until they are about to fail perhaps.I find the PT14 have a certain softness despite their great transparency.
Is anyone else hearing that as well or are my exact tubes just too new and the softness will diminish with more hours of use?
That is my experience as well.Tubes usually get "softer" as they break in. I have not yet encountered the opposite...until they are about to fail perhaps.
Thanks, I wonder if the diameter of the hole in Pacific will be enough to fit U52 that has bigger base?Yes, U52 is interchangeable with 5u4g
I would say no. I had a same issue so a friend of mine helped me with producing a new top cover for Pac with wider & perfectly centered holes for the rectifier and DHT tubes (i could plug T100 without adapter). Thanks, I wonder if the diameter of the hole in Pacific will be enough to fit U52 that has bigger base?
Thanks Golum, I thought so looking at tube socket …I would say no. I had a same issue so a friend of mine helped me with producing a new top cover for Pac with wider & perfectly centered holes for the rectifier and DHT tubes (i could plug T100 without adapter).
Wait until you get rid of the 6N6PsView attachment 117569
I think I now understand…
My brown base GEC U52 absolutely directly fits with about 1-2 mm radial clearance. Thanks, I wonder if the diameter of the hole in Pacific will be enough to fit U52 that has bigger base?
What is your favorite for that position?Wait until you get rid of the 6N6Ps
Personally trying out Tunsram e83f and previously had Tungsol 5687 and Sylavania 7AF7. Not much in them all, all are good, maybe the Tungsram e83f is currently leading. Hoping to get a TP adapter for them soon to see if that changes things....What is your favorite for that position?
Do all of these tubes need (different?) adapters for the 6N6P position?Personally trying out Tunsram e83f and previously had Tungsol 5687 and Sylavania 7A7F. These are in the Pacific
