Of all the places I have visited in the world over the last 30 years, India ranks last as the most polluted and crowded in my opinion.
Maybe it was my bad luck or from both of us getting sick there, but that is one country I probably will not go back to.
Too many other places in the world to explore!

My first trip to India was to Ladakh in 1987. It was quite a tough trek for about a month. Went back with the wife in 2023. We were one of the first tourists given permission to use the new road. It's still spectacular.

I don't find India dirty (quite the opposite) or particularly polluted. It is crowded in places, not Ladakh, but it's the most populous country in the world.

My wife buys her jewellery in India. Just came back from Hyderabad, known for pearls, but also bought emeralds and amethyst (three necklaces and a large single emerald). Diamonds and other precious stones from Jaipur.

Probably our favourite trip was Namibia, especially the Skeleton Coast up in the North West. Quite quiet there. Few crowds.

Next trip might be Assam, Darjeeling, the Sikkim area, between Nepal and Bhutan. Did a trip in Bhutan, fascinating place, but it takes ages to get anywhere.

Should be a lot of fun. Some of the drives are really spectacular and otherworldly.

It's great for photography because you can basically point your camera in any direction and get a nice picture.
