Post your female vocal videos

Something tells me that you thought that was my big OKTAN6 horn reference system on the video, sorry to disappoint you. Please don’t let Tang know that those are $199.00 per pair speaker drivers on my video, and I paid less than that for them.

Actually I had no idea what gear is playing in your video. I never do. I just listened to the videos and shared my impressions.

This time my 7” Full Range Stamm drivers in my Loth-X Troubadours cabinets, with no subwoofer or super-tweeter augmentation:

We seem to have different sensibilities. Thanks for posting.

It appears that we do. And that’s okay. There is no sense in having something you can’t hear I suppose. Just wanted to point out the bass of small drivers in narrow open baffles will be limited in extension and presence. The high frequency contour that you enjoy is consistent and I pointed that out to DDK when he was here on WBF. Around 8 to 10 KHz. You obviously can live happily with that so no worries.

I think we also prefer different overall balance. You seem to imply that I like the balanced tipped down, while to me, your balance seems tipped up. I know you can alter it with your mastering device, so the result in your videos much be the way you prefer it. It is all good, as this hobby is meant to be enjoyed.

The key thing to remember is that because of the limitation of low-frequency response in these phone/camera recording microphones the recorded sound will have a slight high-frequency tilt. In the room the sound will have greater bass X tension and presence than on the videos.

conversely, those videos that exhibit a strong bass content will sound and have even greater bass presence and lower perceived high-frequency energy in the room.

I hope that makes sense. A number of inferences can be made from these system videos if you know how to pick out key elements of sound quality.

I know the balance that sounds natural to me based on recognizing how my own system sounds in room and then on the videos. With this reference, I hear your videos and then have some inkling of how your system might sound in your room, but no certainty. Keep the comparisons flowing. Your videos are revealing.

I agree. I have posted videos of no less than 17 of my systems to use for observations.

I played the “The Absolute Nothing” video and then I played my video and my wife without knowing anything about anything looked over at me and said “that one sounds more real” after less than a minutes, just a few seconds, after my video started to play. I looked up and smiled at her. Why don’t you try that with your wife and ask her what she thinks.

If you’ve got a macbook and headphones, give it the juice.
