Probably moving to Europe, how do I change my system?

Vivid G1 Spirit, wow, what a cool speaker!

How do they sound?
They sound like I am never going to have another pair of speakers. They are quite wonderful!

250lbs/113kg each! How did you get them installed?

I’m in a lot of trouble for buying components I cannot lift.

It's part of the hobby. Who knew when we got into this hobby that it requires an SUV and a moving crew on speed dial?

Congrats on the upcoming move to Lyon, if you can integrate well into French lifestyle I'm sure you will be very happy there.. :)

Another speaker that you should consider, which from what I have been advised work well close to a wall, and are French, are the AudioNec OBi, open baffle full range floor standing speakers. They are new to the market, and are based up nr Paris, north east edge. Three model sizes so one should fit the room well I would hope.. These have the Duopole (400-10k) midrange driver which is one of the best I've heard so far..

I had arranged for an Olympic weightlifting coach, who once squatted 500lbs, to move my Colosseum amp when I brought it back from SoundSmith.

When the time came, the guy couldn’t do it because he had been rear ended by a meth head and needed shoulder surgery.

I hired two other guys. They assured me they could do it. One guy folded like a paper clip and I had to save him.

Thanks for the well wishes. We still have to get approval from my wife’s company so we can go and help her mother in France.

I’ve been to France at least a dozen times and have been listening to French conversations for over 20 years, but, still, it will be the immersive French lessons that will give me difficulties.

I’m planning on taking daily classes at Alliance Francais for as long it takes to pass a B2 test to gain citizenship.

For people over 60 years old, there used to be no language test, then it went to B1, and now it is B2. It’s no joke. It will probably take me five years.

It’s now or never.

Which speaker in that line would work best in a 90-110 square meter apartment?

Hi Larry,

If you're happy with the Cantatas, why would you even change them, the Diablo 333 will definitely suit them, I have no doubt about that. What I would suggest is that only when you see the apartment where they will be staying, think about what speakers you will use. Maybe the EOS 2 will satisfy you too.

Good point.

I’ve thought about it and have decided to first see if the Cantatas will work before buying another pair of speakers.

It might take us six months to get an apartment.

And, yes, the EOS 2 might work.

They don't weigh over 150 pounds out of the crate. They come attached to a board at the base. The board has two hand holds. I had two guys take the bottom and I used the Ice Cream Cone top has a handle. They were easy.

These guys helped a lot!

Those guys look much stronger than the two I hired to grapple with my 176lb/80kg Gryphon Colosseum amplifier.

You certainly have many places you can use as hand holds.

What is the ice cream made out of?

I do wonder about the wife acceptable factor of such a speaker.

My wife was not excited about the shape.

That’s just one datapoint.

My wife is completely focused on my happiness.
And if you buy that I have a bridge I can sell you.

Hahaha!

Once, my wife asked me if we could replace all of this gear with a Bluetooth speaker.

No, I said, we cannot.

I get blamed for buying too much stuff but there is no way that we’re going to move to Europe with just two suitcases.

Initially, we will, sending our stuff into storage so that we can spend up to six+ months trying to find the right apartment to purchase.

But, we will be reunited with our stuff. That will include my piano and my stereo.

And one day my wife said to me
"Can we sell all this audio gear and use the money for travel?
I replied "You sound like my ex-wife".
She responded "You never told me you were married before!!".
"I wasn't" I replied.
