PSVANE Discussion & Impressions Thread

Hi Psvane,
I can see that some sellers started to market NEW VERSION of ACME tubes.
Can you explain what is the difference between "new version" of ACME and previous one?
How can one recognize new from old version?

This is our current version of the ACME. I’m not sure why the seller on eBay is calling it a new version.
However, there’s a good chance we will be releasing a high-end product soon, which is currently in full development. I’ll be sure to share any updates with everyone as soon as I have them.

Hi, thank you for your inquiry.

For audio vacuum tubes, the hierarchy of our product line is as follows:
Basic:HIFI、UK
Selected:HORIZON、ART
Premium:WE、ACME

The HORIZON Series is our latest line, featuring a more neutral sound compared to the Art Series and incorporating the latest technologies, such as HPC coating.
The WE Series pays homage to the classic Western Electric sound.
The A Series is our true flagship, offering a neutral and well-rounded sound profile.

Currently, the H Series and A Series are the only lines sold directly by us on Amazon.
All other series are sold by other distributors.

PS: The Classic series products you mentioned are not only used in the audio market but also in the musical instruments and other markets.
One reason PSVANE offers so many series is that we provide vacuum tubes for various markets and applications.
Of course, our most important market is the audio sector.

Can you please tell where Mark II T-series stands in this hierarchy?
Specifically i'm looking at 211-T-MII/2 tubes.
Does the fact you didn't mention it means that it's phased out?
Thanks!

Hi~

The product you mentioned is the second generation in our Art series, which has been on the market for over ten years.
It’s a classic, and we have no plans to discontinue it.

Not sure why you are going for a personal attack here and calling me ridiculous, but the seller initially telling me they don't care is not an issue for you...but not gonna entertain this conversation.
Anyhow, the practice of breaking tubes or cutting wires might be a thing in US, but it's definitely not a think in Europe where these tubes were delivered, hence my surprise when hearing about this ask. At least, customers are considered to be acting in good faith unless proven otherwise...
Overall, I am not complaining, just stating some facts - not sure why you felt going for such a rant, but each to his own...
Happy to see PSVANE stepping in here and trying to help, which didn't seem that obvious chatting with their sales rep initially, hence my post here.
Not sure about tubes, but for some expensive wines in Europe, the wineries require the bottles to be returned to avoid them being used for fakes. Our wine club gets an allocation from Domaine de la Romanee Conti, and these wines can be sold on the secondary market for many times the purchase cost. They demand that we return the empty bottles once they have been drunk, otherwise we will lose the allocation. Fraud prevention is practised in many different industries, especially for high value items.

If you’re interested in the review of using PSVANE tubes on the Galion, you can jump to 7:13. ;)

I can only buy the T2 art series here in Sweden. How does Horizon and T3 compared to T2 sound?
Am talking about 300B tubes.
Thank you

The Horizon series offers clearer sound and richer layering compared to the Art series, which delivers a warmer and more emotional tone.
The Art T3 improves on the T2 with better detail.

I just wanted to tell a small tale of caution here, not to bring the thread down to a negative level, but my experience of the ART series has not been good.

I bought a matched pair of 12AX7 for my Line Magnetic amp last year and without realising it one of them had developed a fault, a swirling and whooshing noise on the left channel. I thought it was the amp so it went away for repair and only recently came back (long story!) with a new red Psvane ECC83 in place of the dodgy tube.

As I purchased these tubes just over a year ago (not the retailers fault it took so long for a newbie to diagnose the issue!) I didn't try for a refund I just sat down to enjoy my amplifier again. Then I remembered I had bought a matched pair as that's how the retailer was selling these valves, so I got the new one out of the storage and tried it in place of the ECC83 provided by the repair shop.

Within a few days of pleasant listening I thought I noticed a noise during the quiet passages, so I placed my ear near to the speaker and there was a wide band noise coming from the left channel and a decent amount of hum coming from the right channel. After putting the replacement ECC83 back in the background was totally silent.

Now of course this original purchase was last October, so I can't speak for the current production run form Psvane. I know they are trying for a better quality control reputation but even so, it's a premium tube and I would've expected more testing prior to despatch. The retailer was Hot Rox here in the UK, who I presume buy direct from Psvane, maybe they should have tested before despatch?

If you could kindly send us a private message with a video, our official engineers will review it to determine whether the issue lies with the tube itself. Should it be confirmed that the problem is related to the tube and not due to any user damage, we will assist you in resolving the matter and coordinating a suitable solution.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to helping you.

I also wanted to provide an update regarding my initial faulty KT88 (ACME series) tube. After posting on this thread, I was able to secure a replacement tube to be sent out (as one out of the quad matched tubes was dead on arrival) and got a replacement in about 1 and 1/2 weeks. Unfortunately, that replacement tube was also DOD, causing my amplifier to go into protection mode (the amp has auto bias and a pretty reliable protection circuit). This was a bit of a bummer, as I was expecting the tube to be tested before being shipped out...
Long story short, a third tube (replacement) was arranged and received some two days ago (even though no video of it sent prior to it being shipped to me, as initial mentioned in the email thread with PSVANE's representative). This one seems to be working fine so far, but from the so called matched quad, two out of four tubes stand taller, making it impossible to put the tube amp protection grille back on...not sure why these identical series tubes are different sizes, but this is a bit of a problem for me, especially with a small kid in the house, I would very much prefer having the protection grille cover on.
Unfortunately, it seems the infamous quality control issues that led to the former US distributor to gave up on PSVANE seem to still hold a little bit of truth...I can only hope this set will last me a bit without causing me additional problems.

Hello.
Our KT88 tubes are all produced on the same production line with the same materials, so there shouldn’t be any size discrepancies.Could you please take a photo?

We sincerely apologize; it’s possible that the damage to your product occurred during shipping. We truly sorry that you’ve had to face such issues consecutively.

Please trust that before shipment, Joe personally supervised the testing of the tubes to ensure they were working properly before sending them to you. After all, repeatedly replacing tubes is not in line with our cost structure, but regardless, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience.

Sure, please find two pics attached. For the first one I have had a ruler on top of the 4 KT88 ACME tubes, that shows the height difference between the four tubes, which might be more evident for the two tubes on the right (the furthest on the right is actually the latest replacement tube received). The second pic also shows that the same tube is "fatter" than the other one, not only taller
The tubes are actually placed on a multiple socket plate, so there should not be any level difference between individual sockets to account for the height differences

Hello! Regarding the issue with the size difference of the KT88 tubes, we’ve thoroughly investigated it. Since the A-series has relatively lower demand, most production processes, including the shell crafting, are done manually. This can result in slight variations in size. When matching tubes for initial sales, we ensure both size and parameter consistency. However, since this is a replacement and only one tube was being swapped, the focus was solely on parameter matching, and size consistency was overlooked.

Our proposed solution is to let you keep the tube with the size discrepancy as a complimentary item. Meanwhile, the factory will craft a new tube that matches both the height and parameters of the other three tubes and send it to you.

Congrats for your tube.
I want to ask,the 211 Audio Note/kondo use for Ongaku with the write specially made by psavane

are normal 211 or better quality than the normal?

thanks
I love vintage NOS valves. I have -maybe- ALL different kinds of 211 NOS valves. With Air TIght 211 the best match was an Amperex brass base 211D or Philips brass base (maybe from the same factory). I own AN(UK) Ongaku Shinguru and use United Electron 38111 with a molybdenum plate. Also, I own an original WE-242C and others but the best performance for my taste is the United Electron 38111. Now, it´s not easy to find an Amperex Brass base or United Electron 38111, please choose Audio Note 211 with a molybdenum plate.
