I don't want two amplifiers. I know myself, and if I have to face a decision tree every time I want to listen to music I am going to tend not to walk into the listening room.

(Quick related story: I am noticing that with the new system I am listening to music several hours per week instead of several hours every month or two with my other system in the same room. Why?

With the prior system I used to cover the Martin-Logan Prodigys and cover the amps and cover the turntable. It was kind of a hassle to prepare the system for playing.

This time, to keep dust off the components, I am doing it the other way, and I have three serious air cleaners maintaining the room like a "clean room." It is hassle free (and dust-free) and after merely flipping a few switches I can play music. It is a much better system for me if I want to actually enjoy the stereo.

So if there's too much hassle or friction for me to play the stereo history suggests I am simply not going to do it. I really like this time being able to just walk into the room and get the system going quickly.)
You and I think very much the same through this comment and a few others, on the listening room experience.

I am not a fan of this sound. It reminds me of BAT SS amps, which had a dark character as they tried (and failed) to emulate tube amps. I hear strong similarities in Vitus. Ironically, the BAT VK tube amps are not like this at all...they are quite good in fact and the BAT REX monos might be an interesting choice for Class A triode with over 100 watts of power...would still go SET...but the BAT tube amps are good.

The last thing any Vitus owners would describe Vitus amp as dark sounding . Far from it .
There is another pair of Kodo in Msia , driven beautifully with Mephisto Mono. I thk probably upgraded to the latest Gryphon amp by now

To be fair, as you previously heard your speakers only with Gryphon amps, you need to box swap for a few years to find the optimal for you. Even the readers here cannot be sure what will work. Vitus Masterpiece seems to be the one that the Mono and stereo person used. So it should be on for trial.
Pls save your flight ticket cost

Anyway both pairs of Kodo are in coma now …blown a few pairs of Bass drivers.. if I remember correctly , abt 4 bass drivers were broken

did You hear the pendragon with different amps? What are your opinions?

Don’t know. Heard abt it . Coincidentally both seems to fail around the same time . Maybe they played too loud . I like the 1 driven by Gryphon amp.
Not that the Vitus amp is bad . If u see the room & how it’s connected to a switcher for convenience connection to multiple pre & TT , u will understand why . Anyway , it’s was a long while ago . Maybe it has improved or changed now , I m not sure .. but I doubt

Slow with lacking jump and realism is a more accurate term IMO, some may construe this as dark ..!

Again it maybe the load , hard to say ..!

I think I'm going to put NAT Magma -- but only the model using the Eimac 450TH tube -- back on the "fantasy" amp candidates list.

I am picking up the Jadis JA100s today!

I am going to try using the single-ended VTL outputs (run side-by-side with the balanced cables going to the woofer towers using the VTL balanced outputs at the same time).

The amps are arriving with Electro Harmonix KT90 tubes. I am working on finding NOS Siemens EL34s. NOS Mullard EL34s might be "too much of a good thing" with Jadis.

I am not sure which transformer taps the JA100s presently are set for.

Oh, one more small thing.

I have always described my introduction to high-end audio by Michael Kay of Lyric Hi-Fi in New York when he ushered me into his main listening room with Infinity IRS V, Goldmund Reference turntable, Benz Ruby cartridge and Jadis JA200s as my first religious experience of an audio nature. He played Reference Recording's Symphonie Fantastique, and I was hooked!

Flemming conscientiously designed the Pendragons to be a reimagined and simplified Infinity IRS V.

So there is an elegant and almost emotional closing of the circle for me to try Jadis amplifiers on the Pendragons.

IMO you should also borrow the the JP80 preamplifier. At some time I owned the Jadis JP80 - JA80 pair. The amplifier needed the beautiful and extremely nuanced treble of the JP60 tho show its sound quality. And the JA200 with its big separate power supply was in a different league.

Thank you for the suggestion. But the Jadis preamp's tube output stage is not going to be able to drive 50 feet of interconnect.

They are the Belden 1192As.

Maybe you want to ask your Preamp manufacturer if it is possible to use the XLR and the RCA outputs at the same time.
With my two preamps it is NOT allowed

too small a cable cross-section and too high a capacitance 124 pf /m. search for a cable 50-60 pf /m otherwise there is a rolloff below 20khz.
Exsample Sommer galileo 238 50pf/m

With my preamp, the Krell EVO 707, it is no problem at all to use both SE and XLR at the same time, so I see no difference with Ron’s gear. I run balanced XLR to my main amp, and single ended AND XLR at the same time to my subwoofers… the best from two worlds and it works great ;). Just saying.

I would not see why it's a problem. Brian Berdan thinks it's no problem.

Why do your two preamps not allow it?
