Wow Ron!! Those are inspiring speakers. Congrats. The final chapter of the book is being written.

Oops..... I forgot we audiophiles never write the final chapter:)

Thank you, Gary!

You will be surprised -- I really am not an equipment swapper.

The Pendragons definitely present a bigger and more fun sound than the Prodigys. But I think they're conceptually similar sonically, both being 1) dipole, 2) planar, 3) 2-way, 4) hybrids.

I think the Ron of seven years ago did a decent job of predicting which loudspeaker the Ron of today would like.

I don't think these speakers or anything else can beat horns/front-loaded woofers for the reproduction of piano, but I love these things on vocals. I think about them at the moment what I posted about ribbon drivers versus electrostatics several years ago: the ribbon driver gives up one smidgen of transparency, but you get two smidgens of corporeal body and weight in return.

I am happy with this trade versus the Martin-Logan Neolith. And I think the tower of woofers integrates better with a panel than do woofers mounted in the bottom of the cabinet.

I agree ! ;)

Congrats Ron! I like the way you left space for the VTL Seigfried to peek out from behind.
Will there be special lighting?

I am actually not sure why I shoved the amps to the edges. Tonight I decided tentatively that I'd rather not have them near the line of fire of the back wave of the ribbon panels, so I moved the amps to the more conventional middle position of the room.

What kind of lighting would be special lighting?

Neon blue, maybe..?! :p Or maybe nuclear fission blue… -That is a VERY special lighting indeed? :D !

That's raises a good question. I could move them in the middle.
I would leave the amps behind the speaker towers for a clean visual appearance
And you can keep the speaker cables ultrashort this way ;)

But whats the white piece in the middle?

And yes, please center the rug between the speakers

Kudos for avoiding drywall. It may not be practical but fire is the ultimate mood lighting. Listening in complete darkness is not for me. Fire really enhances the texture of wood. There i go again. Spending other peoples money.

Thank you, Mike, Elliot and defride!

Congratulations on the beautiful setup.

But whats the white piece in the middle?

It is a wide-band positive neutrino generator made by a small company in The Netherlands. The neutrinos are believed to impinge upon microstructures in the eardrums and improve the linearity of high frequency hearing response.

Actually, the carpet section is not decorative. With the rest of the unused carpet roll I had the carpet company cut several different sized pieces, and then edge-bind them.

I intend to experiment acoustically with these carpet pieces to increase or decrease the floor reflections around the speakers.

That was my original thinking, but it seemed a little crowded in those corners. And I don't think I want the amplifiers near the line of fire of the back-wave of the panels.

So last night I moved them to a more typical middle position.

But I did remove the red/white warning poles, since JimFord told me he was not going to wander back there and poke around.

A line source like that should not have significant floor bounce. Bass won't be affected really carpet or not.
