I hope you understand it was an ironical joke. I thought this thread was about Ron’s stereo system and not fire safety. On the other hand it is the Los Angeles area.. maybe fire safety is a big thing.

Yes, I understood it - in the past I also had to go through though fire extinguisher formation - fortunately all we had to know was the different codes to pick for laboratory, library or general use!

Have you done any listening tests regarding the fire extinguisher inside or outside of the listening room?
No; what would be your theoretical basis for believing there would be a difference in sound whether the fire extinguisher is in or is not in the room?

Maybe Cyclopse was only having fun with the question but the theory of sound wave propagation could explain his curiosity.
Based on your response I am guessing you never experimented by taking it out to make any determination one way or the other.
I know you’ve taken a great deal if time experimenting with various room treatment types and placement. I even remember reading about some art object (that you have a name for) that you place in between your speakers.
Have you taken the time to determine if that piece of artwork makes any perceivable sound change if taken out or shifted its location within your room?

Yes; you are referring to Saraswati, Goddess of Music. She was found in the remote jungle of deepest, darkest Indonesia.

Now she blesses and over-watches the listening room and provides good energy vibes. Music sounds much more alive and natural when she is there.

Yes, when I travel with Tinka I have to be careful to make sure we don't end up in a giant vat of hot water with carrots and celery floating around our necks!

that is a13 year old Fire Extinguisher. has it been tested or inspected in the last year? pressure gauge in green? tamper seal not broken? no dents or damage?
As long as the meter shows green I didn't think they expire due merely to old age?

correct. but need to be looked at regarding the things i mentioned. once a year. the fact that it's old only means it needs to looked at.

it's possible they can age out, but i don't know about that. ask your insurance agent. in your location you do need to be educated.

Most likely ask at the local fire department.

I met Saraswati one time. I can't recall all the details, I know it was early morning in some bar. I do remember beautiful music and very natural!

There is a trend towards NOS fire extinguishers ;)

They don't make them like that anymore :p

Here in Norway we have checks every now and then and just a couple of weeks ago the local fire departement came to my house for one of those checks. I had an older fire extinguisher down stairs from 2013, and even though the pressure gauge was in the green band, I was told to get a new one, since they can’t guarantee it will work 100% past 10 years of age. It probably will as they said, but not for sure. I didn’t have to replace it, just add a new one.
