Scary Movies

If that's the Kevin Bacon movie (prison?), I remember it being very good.
It is a Kevin Bacon movie but I don't get the prison reference. Essentially his character is hypnotized at a party to unblock and open up his feelings and let stuff in...of course later strange things happen

That would probably be 'The Shawshank Redemption' based on King's short 'Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption', but it has nothing to do with horror. Great movie though.

Cool list. I wish they were all available on Blu ray. Ordered the ones that are, thanks.

Add 'The Strangers' to it at about #2. There's a similar French movie called 'Them' that we couldn't find on NetFlix, but 'The Strangers' was there. Liv Tyler plays brilliantly in 'The Strangers' which we just watched - taut thriller!

'The Strangers'

It is interesting to find out who are behind those masks.
I do have that one on Blu. This is very slow building tension here, and the sounds play an important role...the main film's character actually...and the music.
Not bad, I liked it...for that type of build.

I do hope you're watching in the order I proposed for you :p

It goes crescendo.

How are you finding them, Bob? Some of those movies don't seem to be available in North America...

'The Strangers' sure is. ...And the majority of them are. ...Only very few ones came from overseas...or in Canada strictly. ...And now some of those BR titles that were not avail previously in North America are.

But this is not my genre of movies with the most interest (horror/terror/scary); I prefer sci-fi flicks and the classics. ...Animations (PIXAR style, 3D) and Adventure/Fantasy. ...Action.

There is a dedicated thread about flicks and documentaries on Blu (films we watched recently). ...A place where I find refuge, almost every single day.

Ian, which BR titles are you interested in, and that you don't see avail here in North America?

These:

I'm down to 2 that I can't find.
6. Inside
7. Creep (2014-2015)

I was almost going to list A Serbian Film only because the North American version is cut but I found the uncut version online.

Here's a watch-list for you (in order to watch, not 'good to worse'):
1. Coherence
* The Strangers
2. You're Next
3. The Purge
4. It Follows
5. Irréversible
6. Inside
7. Creep (2014-2015)
8. Martyrs
9. A Serbian Film

I do hope you're watching in the order I proposed for you :p

I am following your suggestions to the letter. :b

Ian, from YashN's list above, I only have 'The Strangers' on Blu.
And 'Stir Of Echoes' ...from Ron's own mention...on DVD.

'It Follows' ...I intend to buy the Blu. ...The other titles from YashN's own list; it's from him that I just learned about...with perhaps couple titles I've heard before.
No way that I'm going to purchase all those without finding good replay value in them first. ...So when time is on my side I can ask a friend/family for an inferior copy, to check first. They have high speed internet, and TV movie channels, and Netflix subscriptions...all that inferior movie jazz (picture & sound)...with low def pic and low res aud.

Ok, ask YashN how did he view them. ...Some older flicks are on youtube too.

* I checked all the trailers first, and if 'turned on' in conjunction with YashN's suggestion, I explore further.
And if I find a title that I really like, then I purchase it on Blu...or from North America (amazon.ca or us or locally) or from overseas (amazon.fr or uk or de).

Thanks, Bob. As I said I did manage to get most of them and will hopefully sample one this weekend.

? Previously Gary mentioned this one:

That's a good one that I truly enjoyed. ...I recommend to all who never saw it. ...Thx to Gary for the reminder...I might revisit...but that's a tough challenge...when you already know the ending.

Some music recordings we never get restless to play again and again. ...And some movies to some extant.
There is one member here, who once said that he likes to listen to new music recordings...never the same ones. I respect that. It's like to be always in the discovery mood...and same with movies.

Session 9. I found it disturbing.

I was considering it a couple of days ago, it's on Netflix so we'll sure watch it soon, perhaps even tonight.

Haven't seen 'Inside' available yet, but 'Creep' (2014-2015) is on Netflix (Canada). 'Session 9' as well.

'The Purge' we have on Blu-Ray, and some others we caught on Netflix as well (not sure if it was NF USA rather than CA).
