Sme 3012 R

I know this old arm is good but I don’t know why David,Rockitman,Tang,Ron,Mike
Use or will use having top tonearm like Sat,EliteAxiom,Black Beauty,Durand

Why 3012 is so special?
I never had and I don’t understand
Only to know for my curiosity
Regards
Gian

Replacing the 3012r internal wiring to kondo an-ai..

1. recommend?
2. extremely recommend?
3. original copper wiring still holds up?

I asked my local stereo repair shop that repairs turntables to replace the wiring in my arm, and he straight up refused to do it, telling me it's stupid to replace the original copper wiring in the 3012r, even for quality silver wiring.
just realized that my post sounds like statement.

I'm genuinely asking if i should replace the wiring :)

oh ..sorry, that wasn’t my intention.
the original sme copper wiring.

the rest of the chain is in my signature but it can always change in the future.

Considering you have a Kondo system I see your point. The SME's are easy and risk free to wire, if we know how to do it. Remember it has an internal lining - but it has a channel that helps passing the wires.

If you end up re-wiring it you might wish to remove the rca connectors as well so you have one continuous wire from the headshell to the phono amp.

My tip finewire c37 copper or silver cables. Reed use it in all tonarmes.
Ask there if Heiko Wingender still offers the service for private individuals

The guy is right about this.

I would try to actually listen to an arm that has been modified with different wiring and directly compare it to a stock arm without modification. This goes for various aftermarket brass parts for these arms also. There are many opinions out there, but it all comes down to the sound one likes.
