My Paradigm Active ADP makes a kind of crackling sound during loud passages on music and movies. 90% of the time it's fine but when a loud passage comes on I hear that crackling.
This is an active speaker, it could be the drivers or the amp.

The driver doesn't appear to be loose or torn. Amy suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

That could be, how can I check? I have a pair and it is just the one that is clipping. These speakers have a sensor that is supposed to light red when it gets close to clipping but it has stayed green so far.
Thanks

Best is to find out which unit makes the cracking noise , its possibly a lose hanging coil
If a voice coil of a certain unit hangs loose it makes a cracking noise , meaning the voice coil is scraping on the magnet .
If all the units make this noise then its probably the amp .
You can test it yourself by pushing a unitmembrane gently a bit back wards (not the tweeter ) a couple of mm , depends on the excursion its able to make, and mostly you will hear it

Check the voltage output of source and Max voltage of input, too.

Hi, I think that's it. When I pushed it back I heard the same type of noise but not as loud. I am not comfortable opening the speaker myself so I'll take it to the dealer to repair. Thanks

Good idea usually a new unit has to be placed because its hard to repair
But one problem remains why did the coil let loose usually its because it overheated and the glue let loose
Overpowered . DC ????

I think because it overheated and the glue let loose
