Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Steve Williams is right (and when is he not?) — I switched back to TAS after having used Roon the since the Taiko OS tweaks and new Taiko USB driver roll out. While listening to Roon is much improved since Emile’s last round of upgrades, TAS is notably better sounding. It took me all of 10 seconds of the first track, if that to come to that conclusion and nothing I’ve heard via TAS since then has changed my opinion.

TAS is is just fuller, more dimensional, more present and most importantly, much more emotionally involving.

Man, I can’t wait for XDMS!

Steve W., you’re a genius. But then, most Steves tend to be just a little smarter and better looking than average. . .

Thanks for nudging me in the right direction.

Steve Z
I guess, not everyone was lucky enough to be named Steve. I should renegotiate it with my mum then.

Any experience with NetworkAcoustics Muon USB cable? Anyone? I'm not expecting delivery until end of May, trying to get a good direction as to where I am going and what I will start with. Looking at a custom Furutech all copper connectors, with DPS-4.1 cable. I am going with a dedicated GTX-D Gold Outlet. (Furutech) Any suggestions will be most appreciated...

John
John, I really like the Shunyata SR-Z1 outlets, made to spec by Hubbell. Very solid design and performance. I recognize the Furutechs are popular and well made, but if you're soliciting opinions, that's mine. Cheers...

Thank You Markus, just attempting to get some general opinions and understanding where other Taiko owners go.

I think it's day 7? No idea...
Soundstage opened up. Deeper and more defined. Overall less constrained. Harmonics/timbre far more accurate to real instruments/vocals.... the bass :)....Timing is getting there.. those caps....
Definitely moving towards that, "cream your Twinky" level.

Marc
Well if your twinky is what I think it is, I would say you are "spot"on ;)

Ed, I can't find my Invitation Code, could you send me another one?
Regards

Nice description on sound… and then the cream your twinky sounds like a special achievement merit award like you see at the end of some reviews… Cracked me up lol

If you want to get Roon operating whilst you are waiting for the TAS App Beta, you use VNC to access the Extreme Desktop and duble click the roon icon to start Roon Core
Ed - could you recirculate the invitation code for Test Flight as it requires one to proceed?

If you read Ed's post it says TOMORROW. It won't work now. Try in the morning.

It should not be necessary to send out an invitation for Users to update the TAS App in the TestFlight

I am carefully monitoring the publishing of the refreshed App, and will post here

I have to say I'm getting intimidated by all of this Jargon!! Invitation code, VNC, TestFlight, Beta Expired! It sounds like running TAS is a PITA?? My unit will be here end of May early June because I want the new Ethernet Card. This does not sound pleasant or easy to implement. Is this typical with TAS???

Android works. Apple just changed something at their end that requires Wilson to redo it. Once you have the app you don’t need an code to renew

It’s very easy. This is a set it and forget it. Ed is merely suggesting how to open Roon core. Be patient. By the time you get yours TAS will be passé and XDMS will be the software of choice if you are an Extreme owner

TAS is end of life.

XDMS will have many less updates than Roon, and will be stable in its sound quality.

The XDMS iOS App will run without the 90 day life limit of the TAS App Beta in Test Flight

Hi John T,
First, congrats! Second, totally understand how the terms can be perplexing. I'll just say rest assured it is more straightforward than it sounds but, MOREOVER, your timing should be perfect as XDMS should be the default software going forward! Nothing but sonic bliss to look forward to! And should you ever have any questions, Team Taiko delivers virtually immediate answers/solutions. (looks like a post or two were made as I was writing, so apologies for any redundancy!)
