Uh-huh. Much of that is laid out in Norman Granz's biography and how he wouldn't let his artists perform in segregated clubs or halls. He was a real civil rights pioneer.

I've had this Dexter Gordon DVD on the shelf since forever. I want to watch it now.
 
I'm with Tim&Jack. Excellent sonics, average at best performance. IMHO, of course.
