The best 5 speakers that you have had

I started with ADS bookself driven by Fisher integrated, Garrad turntable at 1978 (45 years ago).

My best 5 speakers are

1. Scaena 3.2 (2022 to present) Least distortion using line arrays of multiple drivers with wide and deep soundstage.

2. Lansche 4.1 (2006-2021) but in the attic now
Plasma tweeter give nice vocal sound with also nice bass up to 20 hz due to active driven two 10 inch woofers.

3. Apogee Duetta Sig( 1989-1999)
I shall not had let it go. Just one of the most musical sound driven by Krell KSA 150.

4. Altec A7 (2021- present)
Nice sound but after I got Scaena, I use only basshorns for 180 hz and down.

5. B&W Notilus 801 (2000-2002) driven by Jadis 500 gave the most powerful bass in my listening room.

But Jadis 500 gave too much heat during summer time, I let them go together.

6. Avalon Ascent II also sound musical.

The worst one in my room was Wilson Watt Puppy 4 which sound so bright that I let it go only after 6 months on 2000.

If I had DSP, I could have tamed the sound.
Are you interested in selling the Lansche speakers? PM me if so and with an asking price.

Martin-Logan Prodigy (2001 to 2015) (VTL MB-750)

Gryphon Pendragon (2023 to present) (VTL Siegfried II)

Acoustat Monitor IV with Klipsch corner horn sub /JB LE15A Symmetry active x/o and Leak TL-12

Looking back now, would you prefer the Scintillas or the Divas in hindsight?

Nice speakers!

I would like to buy Diva after audtion of it at dealer's showroom on 1989.

But I could not afford it at that time,

Thus I bought Duetta Sig instead.

I see some similarities with my list….:D

I still have Stax 009s headphone, Raal Sr1a, Senhieser HD 800s.

But after using Scaena and Altec combo, I do not use headphone unless I had to.

I enjoy dynamics of my 2 way stereo system.

Indeed, great speaker dynamics are something else.

I guess Pendragon must sound better than the others although those planar speakers are also nice.

My memory is a little rusty as to the dates, but here goes

*Spendor S100 1986-87,
*Apogee Caliper 1987-94,
*Audio Exklusiv 3A (active) 1994-2000
(2000-01 Audio Physic Avanti / Medea)
*Genesis V revamped & improved (by E Nudell himself) 2001-2019
(2019 - 2023: Devore 9, Audiovector 3)
*Apertura Adamante as of January this year
Apogee Caliper must sound good in moderate sized room.

I really enjoyed my Duetta Sig.

I let it go since I want to have sub bass, but I should not.

As good as my Caliper Signatures were, I thought the Acoustats were even better and with the big ones flat to 20hz

Like some here, have not had more than 5:

- Celestion SL6si
- Sonus Faber Guarneri (original)
- Sonus Faber Stradivari
- Wilson X1/Grand SLAMM
- Wilson Alexandria XLF

Given the common theme around Apogees, I can say there was a moment when I was extremely close to getting a 2nd hand pair of Apogee Stages. Probably the only speaker I was serious about. Just a magnificent speaker, particularly for the 2nd hand price at that time.

The only other was 2 different times when I seriously contemplated the Rockport Arrakis.

Until my Dad died and left me some play money mama got the paychecks, hers and mine to manage the household so my hifi money came from side jobs, need a deck? roof, save you big money on a custom house as long as you understand main gig comes first, lol shameless pitch. I wonder if I can write off my stereo as advertising now?
in order of personal faves.

Kef blades
Usher be20 dmd
Meridian dsp 8000se
Revel Salon 2
paradigm persona 7f.

the last 2 were so amplifier sensitive that I just gave up, no doubt the potential is there.

Martin Logan CLS 1 with 2 Vandersteen subs, driven by Primare 928 monos.
Martin Logan Statement E2 driven by 2 Krell FPB 600 C
MBL 101 E with Martin Logan Statement E2 sub-woofer towers, driven by MBL 9011 amps.
Back to full set of Martin Logan Statement E2 driven by MBL 9011 amps.
Honorable mention to my most used speakers, a pair of very smooth and forgiving Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors with Vandersteen subs, driven by Primare 928 monos, playing TV sound trough a OPPO. All speakers are still around !

Is not it difficult to match subwoofer with CLS?
